Drove in and through downtown a few times over the past week. Saw this one from basically every possible angle. Truly a game changer.

Really cool view Sewanee, thanks. The floorplan for the residential portion is tartign to make sense to me. Man, the units with the balconies on the angled side are going to be cool.

You don't really see 6X heading west on 6th until you are past it. Driving by it isn't great viewedge. It's much better from a distance...unless you're walking under it! Just waiting for the top out is what I mostly want. NO CRANES!. Seeing the crown lit in about a year will be historic.

I don't know....a lot of those higher floors are a little too industrial for my taste.

Yo, listen up here's a story
About a little guy
That lives in a blue world
And all day and all night
And everything he sees is just blue
Like him inside and outside

That was the jam back in the day!

In regards to all the blue, while it would be cool to have more color variations, blue does fit well with Austin's environment, as would green and some of the limestone color shades, and in that picture, you can see light tones to dark tones with some green hues. Overall I'm no longer complaining about the glass coloration as I used to.

I really do like the blue color of Austin's skyline. My friends and I went to Dallas recently and commented how their skyline is very old and not modern, but they did like their skyline at night

Yep, Dallas has always been great at night. I feel like Austin used to be good back in the day, but went downhill when they started putting up all the residential towers. That's one thing I miss about this era. Now it is barely lit at night. I like it in the daytime though.

Since when is 2014 back in the day?

I did not look at the date there, but the Austinian was built in 2008. It has decent lighting, as does the frost built in 2005. We haven't seen much with great lighting since, except for maybe the Fairmont when they do window stuff. Maybe Google will have quality lighting.

Even pre-frost I thought the skyline was fun at night in a way that it isn't now.

Yeah, something that irks my OCD is the lack of consistency with the skyline's lighting now. We already see burnt out LEDs on nearly brand new towers and Austonian doesn't light its crescent frosted glass, which is arguably the best lighting feature since Frost.

I'd love to see a tall pointed glowing beacon like Transamerica or Sears someday

Yes! Maybe not Transamerica but definitely would love a Sears tower. Glad you didn't call it Willis LOL

In all these drone videos of the 6X, I don’t think I have ever seen a construction worker anywhere on the building.
Weird.
