This one is a poll. The cruise ship ports bring in a large volume of tourists, and in general that probably increases the score in something like this, but that doesn't necessarily make a place any better. Actually the cruise areas tend to be awful and many cruise visitors only get a very superficial sense of what cities are like.

Montreal's new cruise ship terminal is probably the best one in Canada arrival area-wise, or tied with Vancouver perhaps.
Does Toronto ever get cruise ships coming from the Ocean? I imagine they don't due to the seaway.

A large portion of the cruise ship passengers who arrive in Montreal will sit on the boat the whole time, a large portion will do something like an Old Port bus tour and maybe go to 1 restaurant, and a tiny portion will walk more than a few blocks. The bus tour group will probably drive the T&L type submissions. If their bus tour gives them dried out muffins that they don't like they will be in a bad mood and Montreal will be off the list next year.

Viking Cruises has a new route from Toronto to New York via the St. Lawrence.

There's a few routes that travel the Great Lakes, from Minnesota and Milwaukee primarily IIRC. Toronto is expecting something like 40 arrivals this summer.

They are doing them this year for the first time since I can remember. Smaller ships but still coming from the Ocean and very expensive. As far as I know they will be using the Terminal built for the Rochester Ferry.

Cruise passengers are a tiny percentage of Montreal’s tourists, compare probably to Halifax. More significant would be the fact that Montreal is the number one city in North America for international conventions..

Wow imagine explaining to your wife that you've just downed tens of thousands of dollars, and that you're taking her with you on a cruise ship to Sault-St-Marie, Thunder Bay, and maybe even Cleveland.

That's hilarious. I don't see many people willing to pony up the cash for a trip like that from Duluth, but maybe I'm unaware of their upper-class bracket.

I don't see any incentive in taking cruises. It doesn't look very exciting to me, being stuck on a slow moving massive vessel.

I would be pretty surprised if there were more than a couple people from Duluth on board! I'd expect they'd be coming from all over and flying in to catch the ship.

Also, fantastic Montreal/Quebec set, Martin Mtl! Quebec's harbourfront looks spectacular.

There's an angle we don't see very often. Looks great. Some good variety in height, materials, building styles.

Seems like Calgary shots and few and far between nowadays.

I only recently learned about these Great Lakes cruises.

My guess is that their target clientele is probably people with lots of money who've already done "everything" (often multiple times) and are looking for something different.
