Crane assembly 7/10/22

They placed the motor and the 1st half of the working jib yesterday. Today they lifted the trolley and are now placing the rest of the working jib. After this it's just counterweights left to lift.

Counterweights and all major pieces are in place. They are working on threading the lift cable now.

Looks like they are preparing to take apart the large assembly crane. 6 empty flatbeds lined up for the pieces.

12:30 - Trolley cable operational. Lifting cable end attached. Tackle released from trolley.

We see to have an operational tower crane at this point.

Is it just me, or does it seem odd to have such a tall building with no subterranean levels at all? There was barely any excavation at all. Maybe I’ve just been skewed by all the recent buildings that have underground levels.

Excavation is expensive plus when you have this big of a lot it may just make sense to go up instead of down

Very nice! Hey can you take a picture from that same spot in a week time when they start erecting the crane(s) for 321 West?

I see cranes for The Republic, 6xG, the 2nd Hanover triplet, and 415 Colorado. Should be able to see 321 w 6th from that angle soon enough.

Core Excavation 7/11/22

Piles continue to be drilled on outer edges by Guadalupe and San Antonio. Large backhoe excavated deeper on east side of the central core pit. Surveyor came out early and marked what ended up being piles that they had drilled and filled weeks ago. These were the piles with the closed end rebar at the top. You can see the results of the excavation below. You'll notice concrete was not poured to the top on some of these. Will be interesting to see how these piles get tied in with the structure.

The pile drillers have migrated to the northern edge of the building outline on both the San Antonio and Guadalupe street edges. I'm hoping that means they are done with piles in the center and southern sections, but who knows.

They hauled off about half of the hazmat spoil from the Crane 2 excavation, but no other work in that hole. Does someone know the dates for Crane 2 install?

Large backhoe continues to slowly expand the central core pit for the elevator mechanical space I assume.

They cleared out the NE corner of the lot and half of a 40' double wide mobile office just arrived.

Thanks and loving all the updates.

What you see being installed are piers not piles. Similar but different.

The large excavation you see for the elevator core will be a huge pier cap that ties all the piers together and on top of the pier cap the elevator core walls will rise to the top of the building

Keep up the updates! Myself and a lot of other lurkers on this site really appreciate it

Construction Office / Crane 3?

The construction office is 4 trailer wide block in the NE corner.

All Crane 2 ? pad hazmat spoil has been removed.

They dug what looks like may be the Crane 3 pad in the SW corner of the lot (pic below)

They’re really digging down deep for the elevator core.

What I though was going to be Crane 2 pad where they dug out the hazmat fill has been filled with concrete and now covered with dirt.

Excavation and haul-off continues on central core.

A few more piers drilled and filled on western edge.

Some work painting on office. Looks like they are getting ready to construct wooden access to it.

Thanks for the correction and insight into what they are doing! Much appreciated.

Piers on center edge of San Antonio drilled and filled. Both machines now working on Guadalupe side. More excavation in central core. You can see more piers with the closed end rebar exposed.

I have always wondered how they place piers so precisely on these high rise projects. Is this done with ultra precise GPS? Lasers? Good old fashioned surveying tools?
