That's an odd one. Not only did they have the financial impetus to sell but also the hassle of living with the non-stop construction for years. Would be interesting to hear the full story behind it. One person owning multiple units trying to get a higher price?
That said, not a fan of the BC Liberal changes that made it easier for your strata neighbours to decide to sell your home out from under you. There's a nicely kept Seventies walk up condo building for sale at Burrard and Twelfth. Imagine 10 years ago you retired and carefully picked out an affordable home that allowed you to be near the city centre with good transit. Now you're on a fixed income and forced to move with likely no chance of getting something of a similar size in the 'hood.
