This shot is from June 15th. Just trying to illustrate how far down they actually are. I guess you could call that two levels?

Drove by this area yesterday and it feels so different. Felt very "big-city" like. I cannot wait for these 3 towers to go up. Moon already looks impactful and these ones look even better (based on renderings).

Dumb question, but where exactly is the entrance to the Lyon St LRT station? Will either of Moon or 600 Albert have direct connections?

Entrance is at the corner of Lyon and Queen, under Moon. 400 Albert will not have a direct entrance. Plans for Moon are inconsistent (some show future entrance to retail space, some don't), but likely won't have an indoor link.

Only Place de Ville (Towers A, B and C, Podium Building with abandoned cinema, Delta and Marriott) have direct links via the Place de Ville concourse and entrance between Lyon and Kent.

Thanks

I've taken the LRT many times but it's amazing how infrequently I visit this area of downtown with the buses gone. I bike to work often but stick to Laurier with the bike lane.

Understandable. Not much in that area right now unless you work there or are staying at one of the hotels.

With Moon, which should get a grocery store, Occo Kitchen at Bay and Albert (always very quiet when I've gone so far) and of course the M+M/Rimap development, this area should transform into a decently lively corner of town. Good, quieter alternative to Elgin or the Market.

No word yet on the grocery store chain or date?

Big news. The 2 crane bases have been installed!

I'm curious what the deeper pits next to the crane bases are. Sump pits perhaps? The size of this hole is pretty darn big, I just don't recall seeing sump pits dug before.

Really happy to see the cranes are coming soon. That dig was quick for the depth.

Upon further reflection those pits would be for the elevator shafts to get to the bottom level of parking.

"Upon further reflection"

That makes sense. When I read your question initially, I was looking a the trench around the tower base and completely missed the, what we figure now are, the elevator pits.

Confirming that they are working on it again today. Didn't see in the hole, but doesn't look like they made much progress so far. Just barely peaks out looking from across the street.

A few things of note hear.. obviously the east crane hasn't been installed yet which is surprising. The base of the west crane is also half the size and if you look high center on the second picture they are making cubed concrete weights to place on the pad. It looks like the forms for those are on the right side of the rebar.

I didn't get a shot of the installed crane base but they are putting these formed concrete blocks on it.

I'm going to guess it's just not needed quite yet? Seems as though the boom of the first crane can reach both elevator shafts and there is still excavating to perform before beginning on the bottom parking slab.

It also seems like a good chunk of projects are running on skeleton crews with between labor shortages, strikes and market uncertainty.

In short, I'm guessing like they can get away with not having a second crane rented for XYZ amount of time. I'm actually curious what the daily cost of a crane like that is to rent and operate.

Anyhow.. that's just speculation by me so take from it what you will.

Seems like a reasonable assumption.

Great shots Harley, really excited that the first two towers are on their way with the third being not so far behind. Excited to see these go up. This plus Moon will really help revitalize that area of downtown.
