Totally agree.
Goes to the larger issue of CFL marketing.

I’ve been casually looking for a new (retro 1940s) Stampeders jersey when accompanying my wife on her shopping trips. Jersey City had a large selection of NHL, MLB, NBA & NFL jerseys but I only found a single CFL jersey, a lone red Stamps jersey with no numbers (non- retro).
Sport Check had a handful of toddler & kids Stamps jerseys but no other CFL jerseys. They still had a boat load of Flames gear out.
Kind of ironic that both stores were once owned by the Forzani group.

The only place I have found any assortment of CFL/Stamps gear is at McMahon Stadium and of course you pay a premium there. Even on-line I find the selection to be limited.

The CFL should really be pushing harder to get their swag out there, especially in their home markets.

End rant.

I was trying to figure out why on earth the Bombers are playing on a Monday and then it struck me - it's July 4th, Independence Day in the US. And what would be more fitting than a football game on July 4 in the most wannabe American city in Canada than Toronto?

Question for people in Toronto - Is it going to be a holiday there tomorrow?

This was going to be my comment. Probably just par for the course in MLSE trying to destroy the Argonauts. They are quickly following in the footsteps of the previous owners in not giving even half a 🞵🞵🞵🞵 about the team.

A lot of me just wishes the CFL would fold the franchise entirely. Let them come back with a competent business plan if someone cares.

Having a game of the 4th of July seems like a good idea to me with all CFL games being broadcast in the USA via ESPN, it could be a good opportunity to greatly increase viewership, grow some exposure south of the border, and bring in some much needed money

Could be. I do see the ESPN numbers have been strong for CFL this year so if marketed correctly to the Americans, this game could have some eyeballs on it south of the border.

But, in a Canadian league, still a head scratcher why there weren't two games on Canada Day. I mean, Ontario and Manitoba aren't ideal for Canada Day games because everyone goes to the lake for the long weekend, especially this year since Canada Day fell on a Friday. Could have had a game in Calgary or Edmonton and one in Regina. But hey, what do I know?

Where did you see cfl espn tv ratings posted for this year as I have not found any when I search?

I assume the Toronto game had to do with availability of the stadium as opposed to any kind of desire to take advantage of the American TV market on a holiday.

You are probably correct.

FC played on Saturday. There is only one back-to-back scheduling for the whole year when the women's team played Korea the day after an FC game. They still probably could have played Thursday night instead of tonight.

Hypotheses on attendance tonight? 7,000?

Either CFL News on Twitter or 3Down had something recently. I remember seeing it on Twitter though.

Both now weekend games last year were below 7,000. I think Esquire's guess, but changing the order of the first two digits sounds about right.

I'm giving extra as it's not a COVID year and consideration on who is playing. Otherwise I'd probably have gone 7300

Bombers beating up the Argos early on already 14-0. East looks like will have another rough year where it might be another 8-10 winning the division. I guess west crossover team will get the last east spot again.

Oof i am not sure there is even 5000 people at the Argos game yikes. I guess MLSE is ok with it as apathy from ownership trickles down to apathy in fans.

What a game tonight! It was shaping up to be a Bomber beatdown early on, but the Argos woke up and made a game of it in the second half. The Argos looked like they were going to push the game into overtime as their offense was the hot knife to the Bomber defense's butter... they got the TD but then Boris Bede inexplicably misses the game-tying convert. Unbelievable.

Bombers got out of this one by the skin of their teeth, but a dub's a dub!

2-2 this week to go to 12-4. This was more like the randomness I expected. Hamilton's collapse, Toronto almost pulling it out and another close one for Ottawa. The only really miss was Saskatchewan, but they ran the ball like they need to and managed to get a pick-six on defense. Still way too many penalties and they will hurt them in the long run.

Calgary at Edmonton: coin flip. Edmonton is playing much better, had a big comeback and are at home. Edmonton.

Ottawa at Saskatchewan: whew, another total tossup here. Ottawa played BC tough. They've played everyone tough. Injuries piling up for the Riders and the penalties. They played lousy in the first half. Another coin flip. Ottawa, just so I can be happy the Riders won or I picked it correctly. No lose situation.

Winnipeg at BC: less fans and Winnipeg is showing that they just win. I said I wasn't picking against them until they lose. Winnipeg.

^ Samesies, 2-2 for a 13-3 record on the season. The Alouettes and Ticats let me down... always pick the western team vs the eastern one, lesson learned.

I need to spend several hours entering copious amounts of data into the esquire football super-computer before making this week's picks.
