It's not even a project yet. I was just posting an interesting FYI for a prominent site in Portland. Why the constant negativity?

Dude, I just looked at all of your posts from your profile... literally over 90% are negative and pessimistic.

I would love to see something more touristy with new mid-rise living district built in this area. A nice waterfront area with food and recreating options. Having something like the Big Wheel or some other attraction that could be an icon for the City and recognizable in ways that the Space Needle is for Seattle or the Arch in St. Louis.

It would be really interesting if we could get a combination of an urban housing district and a few cool leisurely tourist attractions. Maybe a few towers / mid-rises and a wharf to put things like the Ferris wheel on?

[Later]: Just found the rest of the thread... looks like we're on the same page Mark

That was an interesting article, I didn't know who the original owner was or that he had a famous daughter (that I got to meet once.) I also didn't know the property had sold, and then sold again. It will be interesting to see what happens with it, but it doesn't sound like we should expect and big urban redevelopments any time soon.

Can you just shut up?

You add zero context to anything. You have zero knowledge about anything. Every single post of yours is the same complaint. Just shut up. At the very least, take a class in urban planning... or, anything. I'm not convinced you're not a kid.

+1. Good grief. But it's more like 95%, and the other 5% are him congratulating himself on his negativity.

No need to be rude. That’s one thing I don’t do to anybody. Just being realistic is all I’m doing with some of my posts.

You guys need to play nice, I am sure mac doesn't want to have to spend all his free time cleaning up this forum. My advice is if you aren't liking what someone is posting, simply ignore those posts. One of two things is going to happen, that person will change how they comment to get better interactions or they will move on to another forum site like Nextdoor.

I appreciate your diplomatic post.

We're not going to be ignoring anti-social trolling behavior. There is one forumer disrupting the forum who has been repeatedly asked and coached about their posting behavior. Posting is not an absolute right (we have more lurkers than members!), though we appreciate that those who have created profiles in this forum, who mostly self moderate and provides on topic and interesting/informative takes on proposals and construction.

We will be addressing this continued derailing with them personally. Thanks!

I expect that to end up in litigation. It'll be a mess... but life goes on. And, honestly, I think postponing any redevelopment of that site for a while could be a good thing. Portland is going through a rough period right now. Hell, the whole country is, but Portland in particular certainly is. We'll bounce back though. I wouldn't mind a site like this sitting as it is until the time is right, or at least better.

I should have been more specific, you and mac should most definitely not ignore people that have trolling like behavior. My statement was more for the rest of us.

Also, we appreciate all the hard work you guys do to keep this forum running for....20+ years (I think.)

Please, for the love of God, Jodi Allen needs to sell to Uncle Phil ASAP! (Emphasis mine)

Moda Center Is Getting Old—and Its Assessed Property Tax Value Reflects That
The Blazers’ arena is valued far below its construction cost and even further below replacement value.
Willamette Week

There’s been a lot of Blazer news lately: better-than-normal offseason deals, headed by the acquisitions of Jerami Grant and Gary Payton II. A promising draft pick in Shaedon Sharpe (oops, injured already). The contract extension of franchise cornerstone Damian Lillard, making him the highest-paid man in basketball. And, of course, there’s the game of cat and mouse between Blazers chairwoman Jody Allen, who swore last week the team isn’t for sale, and Nike co-founder Phil Knight, whose reported $2 billion bid suggests that it is.

Two indisputable facts: The Blazers’ ground lease with the city of Portland expires in 2025; and its home gym, Moda Center, completed in 1995, is one of the oldest arenas in the NBA. Those two data points raise questions about the arena’s fate, especially since there are rumblings that, should Knight acquire the team, he envisions a serious upgrade of the Rose Quarter.

Blazer fans and elected officials, including Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler and U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), have made it clear they want to do whatever it takes to keep the Blazers here.

Does the Moda Center really need to be replaced? Just because it is now one of the oldest NBA arenas doesn't mean it needs to be torn down and rebuilt.
