I pray people like that get ran over protesting on a highway like this. these people are scum and crazy. protest the LEGAL WAY like everyone else does. Like .... at the art gallery, at the convention center, at a skytrain station. what they are doing is criminal and luckily the police seem to be ramping up their response. I pray for a old school style "baton parade" of a few of these so called protesters. ALSO these people are risking the police officers lives having to respond on a highway to things like this.

According to the article he's a student, and he was born in Pakistan, but none of that precludes him from being a naturalized Canadian citizen.

Old-growth logging protester suffers 'life-changing' injury on Vancouver Island

On Tuesday, Save Old Growth said that one of its members, Trevor 'Red' Mckelvie, fell from a height of about 20 feet after an angry commuter removed one of the ladder's supports.

An online fundraiser was set up to support Mckelvie's recovery. The GoFundMe campaign says the man shattered his pelvis and that he requires a "high-risk" surgery, six months to a year to recover, and that he faces potential life-long health complications.

Sorry, I have a hard time celebrating someone's grievous injury no matter how it came about. That kind of thing is the start of a awfully slippery slope...

I hate to say it, but the majority of people between 18-24 have zero idea how a functioning economy works. They automatically see resource extraction and automatically think it's bad because it's finite. Many of these protesters are misguided students who have taken a few ecology/environmental courses up at SFU. They lack the life experience to see the true pressing issues, and how futile their actions are on the grander scale.

I would like to follow the money and see who makes money from these protests (through donors and non-profits). On the other side of the spectrum, we saw sheep blindly donate and support a convoy movement that allowed a select few to rake in the dollars.

I don't disagree with you, but to play devil's advocate for a moment I think we should recognize that the Boomer generation has really shat on everyone who's followed it and young people have some valid claims to be angry about it. Yeah, a lot of them have been coddled and are prone to being "triggered" for what I'd consider to be trivial things, but if you look at housing and education prices, not to mention the mountain of government debt we've left for them to pay off it's really brutal for today's youth compared to what I had at that age. I think I'd be pretty pἰssed too.

Pretty unusual for someone to come unaccompanied as a a student and get citizenship right away though with Trudeau's harebrained policies anything is possible. And still in uni six years later? I though we were getting the best and brightest?

Yeah, it's downright terrible to laugh at someone who's negatively changed their life forever. The discourse in this thread has got incredibly concerning with all of the vitriol and anger being thrown around. The lack of any sort of empathy is really disturbing.

VPD officers quickly located and seized three unoccupied vehicles that had been strategically placed by protesters near the Iron Workers Bridge. Police believe the vehicles were intended to be used by protesters to block bridge traffic.
