Originally, it had been anticipated that buildout of the 500 home development might take 15-20 years, but only two years in, the developer anticipates starting construction on the final three phases of the subdivision next year. Final home construction will likely occur at the 5-7 year mark.

Having Maplehurst Middle School within the subdivision is a big selling point.
Would you know where I could find a map of this fully built out? And does Mountain Way include the subdivision to the north (off Falcon) or is that a distinct development?

I think I have a saved image on my Flickr account. I will look for it after work this evening.

There will be essentially zero developable land between Ryan and Mountain road by 2030, perhaps with the exception of the lands to the west of the casino. This is another reason why the rural estates subdivision never should have been allowed to happen. It a shame that Moncton the area between Barry Mills, Ryan Street and the TCH will never be a regular dense suburban subdivision. This is a major blunder on behalf of the City of Moncton and the Province of NB.

The map in this story is a few years old, so the details may be slightly different: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-brunswick/moncton-north-end-rezoning-council-ryan-road-1.4544351

The steel framing for the expansion to the Shoppes at Hasting Ridge on Mountain Road has been put up.

Apparently this is for a substantial expansion of Beyond 20/20.

Sorry, I forgot to check my Flickr account earlier. Here is a site plan for Mountain Way Estates:

This has popped up on the Quest Capital Facebook page.

It looks like they are just beginning the eighth and final floor of Vizion North.

I will keep an eye on this, and once the building is fully topped off, I will post a picture of my own.

My mother lives near the bottom of Cedar street and she got a notice that construction is about to start on the Cedar Street extension to Carson Drive. This was mentioned a few years back on this forum. https://skyscraperpage.com/forum/showpost.php?p=8611083&postcount=1555

This will promote additional apartment construction on Carson Drive, especially the cleared land in behind the Rallye Motors Auto Village.

In other news, here is a photo of Vizion North on Lady Ada, now at full height (eight storeys).

In Mayor Dawn Arnold's summary of city council decisions today was this little nugget:

Quote:
awarded a tender for an enclosure renovation at Magnetic Hill Zoo (for WALLABIES!) (Maritime Fence=$341,708).
So, the zoo is getting a Wallaby enclosure. That should be fun! These miniature kangaroos should be quite a hit with the kids.

I thought the next thing in line for the zoo was a penguin exhibit............

EDIT:

This article (https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-brunswick/moncton-magnetic-hill-zoo-expansion-council-1.6117842) indicates the next phase of the zoo expansion (including the penguin exhibit) is expected to be completed in 2024. There has never been a previous mention regarding Wallabies. Perhaps an opportunity presented itself.............

Some interesting PANs around here...

1. Someone bought the remnant lot to the west of 200 Carson last July. (05227835)

2. The large PAN 02232572 to the northeast of current Cedar St is where apartments are expected, I presume. It extends across Wheeler as well. I presume it will be bisected to gain access from Carson to the vacant land further east (02232792).

3. Named 'Cedar St W/S' the skinny PAN 06516318 to the northwest of the current Cedar St as far as Wheeler, I presume this will be infilled with townhouses or duplexes or something.

4. 'SD 31172134 LOT 12-03' (PAN 06214021) is the big lot between the apartments at 190 Carson and the substation to the south, bounded to the west by the trail. I presume Karen Dr will bisect it and terminate between 274 and 282 Cedar, as well as through PAN 06516318.

and lastly, are there plans to build out the Blue Heron St development?

Excavation has apparently finally begun for the new Popeyes next to the Arby's on Mountain Road.

From Mayor Dawn Arnold's Facebook update following the city council meeting today:

Quote:
RFP for design, build, & construction management of action sports park at the North End YMCA — New Line Skateparks Inc.=$761,214
Not sure exactly what this is, but it sounds like a new city skatepark of some form for the northwest end. I wonder if it will be like the one in the Riverfront Park, or, will it differ in design in some ways.

Also:

Quote:
a presentation by the Moncton Public Library board on the possibility of a North End branch
Very interesting. This is not the first time the idea of a library branch for the northwest end has been floated. This idea must have some traction.

Again, an ideal location for this would be on the Moncton North YMCA property. There is enough land on the other side of the YMCA parking lot that a branch library could easily be accommodated.

This area is ideal because of the apartment cluster that is being built right across the street, the YMCA, Ecole le Sommet right next door, and fairly convenient location with relation to the Northwest Trail, Evergreen Park School, and Maplehurst School. In many ways, this area of the northwest end is becoming a de facto town centre.

If a library is built, this is where it should go.

Newco Construction just posted this aerial photo of "the Oak", currently under construction on Twin Oaks Drive.

Six storeys and 102 units. This will be the first of six apartment buildings to be built on this site (right across from Ecole le Sommet and the new Moncton North YMCA.

BTW, you can see the YMCA on the extreme left of the site plan above. Just on the other side of the parking lot is where I think the proposed North End Public Library should be built.

They have started laying the foundation for the new Popeyes

It's happening! I'm so excited!!!

They had better be hiring the new traffic cops to patrol the drive-thru line-up soon.

Why didn't the Franklin Yards development do this? It's way less terrible.
