Thanks for posting that Blah_Amazing. I'm liking a lot what seems to be this vintage industrial design trend. I hope it continues and becomes even more prolific in Salt Lake and along the Wasatch Front. I think the look will age really well.

Is this a trend? Dixon Place

As per u/Netshahab on the subreddit, Convexity tower is back to being called the Worthington. Per the construction crews onsite and the prints.

The Evo Campus is so cool. The Granary District could very well become one of Salt Lake's most must-see districts. If developers are smart they'll capitalize on this stylish trend that's emerging in the Depot District.

Here's a phone shot of the skyline that I took this evening from an airplane.

I love that shot. Thank you for sharing.

More buildings of the same height will make downtown look like a plateau.

We desperately need a 5-600-footer to break that effect.

I'm afraid that's what the near future looks like. Seems like nearly all the under construction/planned buildings are 300 to 400 foot range with flat roofs. Our skyline will be one solid block.

I'd love to see some variety with roof design.

I wonder how the Astra will look in this picture? Wont it at least rise SOMEWHAT noticiably above its immediate neighbors?

Yes, it will rise above its immediate neighbors. Because of the higher elevation at the base of the COB, Astra will appear to be only slightly taller. At least Astra will provide some height variation. Totally agree though about needing some height variation and some additional tops that are not just flat. I think Salt Lake is doing a pretty good job though as far as the overall design of the tower curtains goes.

Definitely a plateau but it’s becoming a dense plateau which is nice. Astra, Main Street tower, worthington, west quarter final phase, west temple tower, and hopefully the tower right next to the Astra tower will broaden the skyline and make it much more dense. These additions will make this decade pretty incredible. 4-5 yrs out from now will be very interesting to look at.

I’m not sure if the sundial tower is considered likely at this point so I didn’t mention that.

Thanks for the picture Atlas. Yes, i agree that downtown is a plateau. However, building out the density, like Utah Dave pointed out' will make that future 5 to 600 foot tower look even better. We do need the taller buildings, but the increased density is needed downtown as well. I just hope I am still alive when that first real skyscraper is built!

A 5-600 ft tower would be pretty nice.

What ever did happen to Sundail tower?

From that perspective, Astra is going to fill that gap between the CCH and 222 really nicely, imo. It'll look significantly taller than Wells Fargo (roofline: 400 ft).

Radio silence, mostly. With the current economic outlook and the rise of WFH, coupled with no new reports or info, there's speculation that it could have been cancelled. That said, I wouldn't be too surprised if it's still alive. Hines is a big company with a lot of resources.
