The marine services company that uses the corner of Charlotte and Lower Cove Loop for equipment storage, next to the parking lot used by Budget, has cleaned it out. I forget their name. Not sure if they're closing or relocating, but worth mentioning.

The scoop is the fair that comes to town every June at TD Station will be using this space. My guess is because of the memorial cup TD Station couldn’t accommodate them.

The scoop is correct. This is exactly where that fair will be this year. The address listed is "Lower Cove Loop - 300 Charlotte St E".

Today Uptown Saint John welcomed the 4th largest cruise ship in the world carrying over 5,000 passengers! It was also the container village’s first day open with a total 27 vendors. It looked like a huge hit, I have not seen Water Street as busy as it was today in years. It will be nice to Fundy Quay kickoff with all the activity already happening on the waterfront.

I’m sure the tourism industry in the city were just buzzing with excitement today.

I can't imagine they moved a long time tenant for a week long fair.

St Vincent’s High School just sold, it was on the market for 8 days. The realtor says it’s going to be redeveloped.

Woah- great news. Would make great condos or a boutique hotel. What was the listed price?

There was no way non-profits were ever going to be capable of salvaging this building. Water damage, asbestos, massive renos... private sector much more appropriate and capable. Three false starts in the last eight years, I believe.

I wonder if they abolish the gym and some of the older additions behind the original yellow brick building. The gym section is over 10,000 sf and would be a very interesting place for a taller structure connected to the original.

Public hearing set 22 August for 3 Queen Sq N, the old auto repair place on Queen Square as well as the following...

-the set back 2-unit beside it at 13,
-the parking lot at 19,
-a portion of the lot occupied by a 13-unit building at 21.

Converting from Mixed Commercial and Urban Center Residential to Integrated Development, mixed use commercial and residential.

Cool! I hope the house at 13 survives.

I think it’s awesome, great use of space and the design is in keeping with the Victorian architecture in the area.

Thanks man! I own 32 across the street as well and plan on doing something similar there, abutting 28 Harding... if I can get in touch with the housing co-op that owns it.

Looks amazing, the green trim is a nice touch. This is a seldom reworked street and I am glad that it is getting some love.

It's such a neglected street, it's basically Horsfield on Queen Sq instead of uptown. Down to the southeast 'parking lot corner' both share. Lots of potential.

25 Harding was restored somewhat recently after a fire, as were a couple down towards Germain. 20 was just sold at the tax sale in April. 19 is getting a facelift concurrent with my building, I believe. Historica is repointing 265-277 Charlotte. The four townhouses on Queen Sq S should break ground by the fall.

The price the owner is asking for the corner lots/near derelict buildings, from 24 Harding to 287 Charlotte, is totally crazy. $700,000! Like, come on man.

Relating to what Adam has posted, this excavator and roller is on site at the old Sugar Refinery site. Looks to me like they are flattening the space with new dirt.

Its possible there are no actual plans in place the city is just trying to make the land suitable for development. Mind you it’s unlike the city to take that extra initiative and the same could be said for most municipalities. I’m confident it’s neither a school or museum. The only rumour on here that I think has credibility would be a new Cooke HQ. I’m not saying that’s what it is but compared to the alternatives suggested that one would be more likely.

TJ confirms this today. Maybe once the industrial parks made it clear they needed to be cleaned up to appeal to investors, SJ took the hint and decided to do the same with other city-owned areas. With Sydney (from Broad to its southern end) getting rebuilt later this year and Harbour Passage approaching its (temporary) eastern terminus at long last, this area could become more appealing, despite being somewhat out of the way.
