You're right, I can love summer but summer like Canada. Actually, the Newfoundland summer has a flaw, there are few thunderstorms. The ideal would be hot, stormy summer like that of New England or Northwestern Japan.

There is something about the Newfoundland summer that is truly magical, the fog. Your summer mists are pure ASMR!

That was some rough heat out there...I left in the evening for a little walk to my local wooded park, and even then, the humidity was getting to me. It was still really nice to get out. This is a roadway connecting one of the city's largest hosptials to a parking lot, fenced dog area, and trails within a large park. It's a nice road to walk down:

19C and cloudy. Freaking backdoor cold front. One of my most hated weather phenomena. Means heat in Southern Ontario and cool weather here. It doesn't happen often maybe 2-3 a year but even that is too much.

Low of 13C under that northeast wind.

The warmspot was Toronto, ON at 32.8C.

4C at my place this morning. It’s also incredibly dark; it’s been weeks since I needed a few lights on during daylight hours. Everything outside is a bit wet but it’s not falling heavy; very light drizzle.

EDIT: Now it's very heavy

And the forecast is brutal.

Its actually 3 ponds with a stream. The skimmer and pump are behind the reads and flowers at the upper far right, the filter and falls are behind and to the right below some evergreens. I placed different levels and spaces for the birds. The small song bird prefer the treed section. the larger robins and Magpies like the middle and streams. and the Kestral and crows like the pond fringe. As for wildlife the rabbits and foxes like the fringe in the trees.

Seeing SHH's posts of extended periods of garbage weather only makes me feel slightly less bad about the mostly underwhelming weather we have. Sure, three straight hot days is nice, though the 30+ is not for everyone, but before and after that is not all that good.

Naturally, even worse up north in cottage country. 14 and 15 degrees this weekend with one day being rainy means third consecutive weekend staying home. Not worth the two hour drive which is more like three if you leave during peak times and have kids, which means multiple stops. If you had a cottage like 30-60 minutes away like cottage owners that live in smaller cities, then you can justify the drive despite sub par weather.

Anyway, since beach weather is few and far between so far, and will continue to be, I took one of the kids to Burlington Beach to go splash around while we can. Was there from 7:15 to 8 in the evening and parking was more than 80% full for the proper lots (not including overflow on the other side). I was not expecting that on a weekday. Several people out with their jetskis (too shallow for boats) that would have partied well into the night.

Also, where I live, there are 20 splash pads. A good 3 or 4 within five minutes. Too bad they don't open till June 1st, which is right after the heat wave. And looking at the two week, there's only a few days on which I think anyone would even consider taking their kids. No days that would make you say I gotta bring the kids to the splash pad.

For those like merely comfortable weather, you got it good for a while.

It is surprising you haven't hit 30 before today.

I'm sure you will get a 35 degree day though.. the weather is going to be wacky this summer.

That is pretty cool. Impressive that you were able to connect all of that using only one pump. I have a little rinky dink pond but would like to do something bigger in the future. I watch 'The Pond Guy' on YouTube. He goes around vlogging people's ponds.
