V3 Vape Store opened, south side 1100 block Robson. Actually a pretty attractive build-out.

Better a vape store than an empty storefront.

I can't remember the last time I saw a new BR, anywhere in Canada.

If I recall correctly Red Box pulled out of Canada about 5-6 years ago.

I remember they were in Ontario back around 2013, several years after Netflix expanded its streaming service into Canada.

It'll be in the former Granville Gifts / Royal Canadian Mint location next to Sleep Country.

It's going to be right on the Granville strip

That should be Vancouver's commercial real estate motto.

Unhappy

The End of an Era in Kitsilano

Young Bros Produce 3100 block W Broadway has changed hands and the new store is nothing like the overstuffed chaotic bargain bin of old.

Seriously what is with all these vape stores and their pretty sophisticated retail designs... very eye catching and appealing and yet not at all mass-market. It almost makes me want to go in even though I haven't been a user in well over 20 years. Maybe that's the point

I'm more griping about how other storefronts can't seem to match their level of aesthetic, for sure I am glad that if it has to be a vape store, they almost universally look great.

Vape is simply cigarette/tobacco packaged for the new generation. There must be a lot of investors behind this betting on addiction. Babies love pacifiers for a reason: oral fixation is human nature many find tough to outgrow of.

Same explanation for why there are tons of new pot shops.

The chatter I'm hearing is that the new Mills owner could be in for a rude awakening, as many of the initial five year leases are coming to an end. For me, if that's correct then I'd expect that Rosen at Mills is not much longer for this world.

the Harry Rosen is very small, it's next to Aritzia. Maybe 1/3 the size of the Mills location.

I don't think that they are that stupid to not have any due diligence. Seems like they want to build housing.

With its lower sales revenue per square foot and massive paved parking lots, expect a development proposal in the near future for a mixed use development that concentrates on higher form housing on the Tsawwassen Mills megamall site.

Is Zennkai closing down? Their downtown, south Granville and Kits locations are all up for lease.

"Rumor has it that Simons is looking for locations in downtown Toronto and Vancouver."

Simons downtown would be great. The Park Royal store is always good but it can feel very quiet and deserves more customers.

You'd be surprised at how many unexpected things can occur post-closing.
