15 in moderate to heavy at times rain in Halifax today and heading for a forecast high of 20. We were at less than half of our average rainfall for the month so us gardeners are happy. The next two days are forecast to have a high of 25 then a couple of days of below average temps but mostly sunny. Loving the mid-spring lushness.

Almost everything is leaved out in my yard now and most of the perennials are up. Time to think about filling them in with annuals soon.

The weather has been good lately, with a few cooler, drizzly days mixed in. Last Sunday was unusual as it was cool with drizzle in Halifax but hot and sunny in the Annapolis Valley. Decided to hit the road and enjoy an honest to goodness 30C sunny day in the valley, and it was worth it. On the drive back around supper time I watched the temperature readout in the car go from 27C in Grand Pre to 12C in Halifax... have to be honest, it was kind of depressing to go home on that particular day. Just about froze unloading the car while wearing a light shirt and shorts...

It's awful here lately as well. I'm very grateful the long weekend was so warm and sunny. We've had a lot of sun lately but temperatures have mostly been below 10C and (with a couple of exceptions) that's forecast for a while yet.

Are you sure that there is not something near the anemometer (trees, houses, etc.) that limits the wind speed?
In fact, even the Marty_Mcfly weather station did not register very strong wind, only 14.8 km/h

In fact, even the Marty_Mcfly weather station did not register very strong wind, only 14.8 km/h

I never get accurate wind speed readings on my weather station either, it's pretty much impossible if there are trees or buildings around. The anemometer is supposed to be mounted 30ft high, but most people have their stations at 6ft, which is the correct height for temperature.

With these types of units you need to make a sacrifice between accurate air temperature readings and accurate wind readings. For good air temps you wanna be 4-6 feet off the ground, though for accurate wind you need to be well in the air away from almost everything. That's really hard to do in an urban environment.

My backyard is extremely well sheltered. A lot of trees, and also in a valley. I expect even in a massive wind storm it likely won't come close to measuring anything super high.
