Local meteorologist saved dozens from eye damage today

"These phenomena is" cracks me up, just because he went through all the effort to ensure the rest was plural lol

Nice day. Mid 20s away from the lay, high teens at the lake.

Looks like it's me again.

Went for an early walk to beat the heat, and also caught the sunrise. Going up to 28 with a Humidex of 36. Thunderstorms are expected to roll through at somepoint.

Sunny and 15 at 10:30am. High of 14 except 19 inland, I'm guessing we'll be somewhere in between unless a seabreeze sets up later this afternoon. Looking like tomorrow will have constant southwesterly winds which should help us get near 20.

High of 28C tomorrow. Not too far away in Boston, the high tomorrow is expected to be 97F.

Wow, first summer storm of the season blowing through Toronto right now and it's a ripper!

Actually triggered the Alert Ready system (and not for an Amber alert across the province finally). Astounding winds and lots of lightning. In fact I believe I saw a transformer blow up at the hydro line north of me. Hard to tell in the blinding rain but definitely a large flash.

Another below seasonal day here, May get to 17c but we will see.

Mountain passes got about 10cm of snow last night and potential for more today.

Bit of a cool walk this morning, noticed the downtown “urban vineyard” grapes vines are starting to fruit.

I had the pleasure of driving over the Coquihalla Hwy in summer tires this morning. It sucked.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ontario-severe-thunderstorms-1.6462285

With the surprisingly strong storm that ripped through Toronto earlier, report a large boat capsized with up to 20 on board! A woman was also killed in Brampton due to falling trees.

Storm is now coming up to Kingston and Ottawa, and apparently there will be more weather this evening for Ontario. Hard to imagine it will be as swift as this first one though, wow.

3PM: Humidex of 41 now in Sainte-Clotilde, QC.

This is extremely impressive for May who is usually not a very humid month.

The humidex is another reason why EC is questionable. It's so exaggerated and never matches the heat index (the US measure of the effect of humidity on temperature). I don't know which one is wrong but obviously one country is calculating it incorrectly.

Truly a spectacular day. I think this was our first big hike of the season and it was, by far, the scariest section of coast we’ve ever done. It was closer to rock climbing than hiking. But so, so worth it.
