Someone mentioned that the mess that was left around for months on end was on "provincial property". Well, with this picture, we know who's responsible for it, and it doesn't come as a surprise.

With years to work on a mere public square, one would think the drainage would be top-notch. Now we see the square being flooded whenever it rains.

Although it's behind schedule, the work along the Hornby Street side of VAG is actively coming along.

I was watching as they were laying the large rectangular paving blocks today.

We are very lucky to have such a beautiful building be located in the heart of our city. Compared to Nathan Phillips Square and its revitalization that has fallen short, Robson Square improvements have been, imo, successful at elevating the public realm, highlighting the VAG-courthouse complex and place-making in the centre of downtown.

Wow.. I love Nathan Phillips Square.. so much life there any time of the day or night.. and no booths with people openly selling drugs with signs "F*ck the Police", etc.

yeah, the building is nice. the rest of the renovations sucked. one giant paved over piece of land, with really nothing there. yes, great. or that transit shelter that blocks out the nice building from one angle.

there is literally nothing nice there in the slightest. go there in the middle of the summer, enjoy the heat from the sun above, and reflecting from below. its terrible.

we will see how the side of the building looks when done, though i wouldn't hold my breath.

I cannot believe the occupation of the VAG stairs continues and is even expanding to the public square! What waste of what could be a nice public space, but everybody's afraid to do anything about it. It looks like a homeless camp in making with all the random tents.

I was going to ask if that was a homeless camp.

What is the organizers endgame?

What must be met for them to take it down?

Seriously curious.

If there are no realistic demands (such as erecting a monument or plaque) then it’s obviously just bait for a protest when it is eventually removed.

And there is never ever any real “land back” solution, it’s 2022, nearly 40 million people live in Canada now and 95% are non native, it’s either we are in this together, or nothing at this point. A land divided is never a long term solution.

Japan is never going back to the Ainu, Taiwan is never going back to being non-Han people, central and Northern Europe is never going back to its Pagan days, time to realize we live in today.

I believe this started with the discovery of unmarked gravesites from residential schools.

That side of the VAG is not an entrance. It has been protest/demonstration central for decades.

Why are people getting triggered over this? It's not blocking anybody from anything.

We know why it started, but can you answer my question, what is the end game? When can it be removed?

As noted above I am welcome to a permanent memorial, but what is there now can’t stay forever.
