Whole Foods are a small operation in Canada - just 14 stores, seven in BC. They haven't yet opened a store in Alberta, or Montreal. They once indicated an intention of having 40 stores across the country, but that doesn't seem to be the case these days. They seem content to expand very slowly, and to keep the locations they have, despite the scale of some being modest (like Robson Street). None of Amazon's other retail concepts have been introduced into Canada. Perhaps that might change when they have a sizeable established workforce here in their new office locations, but right now they seem to be expanding retail operations in the US, (with some closures as well) but not here.

I recently used an Amazon Fresh store in London... they have quite a few locations. It was simple and quick. I tried to trick it several times, but it was very accurate.

These could replace some of the smaller Whole Foods locations (Robson).

Your link just goes to the Amazon.uk website. I can't see what the advantage would be for Amazon - with Whole Foods they have a higher price point (and presumably profit) with a much higher proportion of organic food. Amazon Fresh competes with general grocery stores, (which we're hardly short of) with the added bells and whistles of not having to use a checkout if you want to use a smartphone payment (although there is still a conventional checkout available). They certainly wouldn't be putting it into The Post, now that the Loblaws City market is going in, which will be the largest grocery store Downtown.

I went to the Amazon Go in Seattle, the original one, I believe Seattle now has more than 5 plus one is almost a full grocery store. It was accurateand quick and had a steady flow of customers. The freshly made food was good.

Anybody know where the Loblaws will be located in The Post (i.e. North end or south end?)

Seems like it's the Georgia side.

The entrance is on Homer Street.

And thanks goodness the frontage seems to run along Homer too. Having it along Georgia would really kill any attempt to animate those steps.

it will be interesting to see how well it does. For area residents the Costco and IGA aren't far away. They will have the advantage of all those Amazon workers onsite though.

The main retail concourse / circulation space / lobby on on Homer with escalators going up to the 2nd and 3rd floor retail areas.
Not much of a "mall" on the Homer side based on the rendering as there seem to be mostly blank walls at ground level with one cafe.
The restaurants will face Georgia St.
I just noticed in this mega-sized version of the rendering (apologies) that there's a "Whole Foods Market" sign in the drawing, which shows the grocery on the 2nd floor.

The 2016 plans previously had a large retail space in the basement (north side - where this rendering shows a cafeteria (?)). I don't know if that's still retail.

People really like their cheap noname products though, in burquitlam here people are still upset about losing the independent grocer.

As it's a Loblaws, and as No Name is a registered brand of the company, those people will probably be in luck! It seems to me that the IGA will be the store most at risk of losing trade. Costco isn't really in the same category, and requires a membership.

22 neon signs from Vancouver's past will have a permanent home at The Post

All 22 heritage neon signs on display in a years-long exhibition at the Museum of Vancouver (MOV) will be permanently relocated to the interior publicly accessible common areas of The Post redevelopment in downtown Vancouver.

In late 2019, MOV and redevelopment owner QuadReal Property Group initially announced a partnership to give three neon signs a new home at The Post, but an announcement this week shows the initiative has now grown by more than sevenfold.

...

To prepare for the relocation of the signs, the museum exhibit will permanently close on June 29, 2022. Operating hours in the evening will be extended on select dates, given the popularity of the exhibit. A special celebration event will also be held next month to close the gallery out.

The public will again be able to view and experience the signs in Fall 2023 when The Post reaches full completion. The first phase of The Post, the new south office tower fronting West Georgia Street, will open later in 2022.

There is parking on the 4th and 5th floor in the middle of the building? All parking arrangements and levels must be from the Canada Post era, correct?

No, a new circular parking ramp was built. There's not much underground parking, so they repurposed upper floors.

Interesting. Is the parkade entrance from Homer or Hamilton? Not sure if I have seen it on recent photos.

Scroll up the page a couple of photos, and you'll see the bays without canopies on Hamilton. It's one of those - I think it's probably the one with the orange tarp that's not completely in any of the images. You can see a bit of the ramp behind the windows. The Homer side has the Loblaw's supermarket.

This rendering shows some bays with Parking over them.

They took down all the most recent development PDFs for The Post
