Judging by a quick glimpse as I drove by today the 25 story tower is already above grade! I'm looking forward to this tower as much as anything else in the city because it will be a connection between the Ottawa and Gatineau skylines.

Yeah, it’s a bit of a game-changer that way. And it should look different than any other new building in the region.

I cant wait to see that one go up and see the impact it has, its gonna be the focal point between Ottawa and gatineau for years to come. I dont believe any other building on the chaudieres island is planned to be higher than 25 stories.

This area of Zibi is about 8 storeys lower than the CBD. So 25 storeys might look closer to 17 storeys from a far. It will still be nice to see something in the gap between Ott and Gat.

I'm still unsure about the beige brick colour, and I wish the District Energy podium used dark red brick as per the original renderings, but overall I like the building.
I wouldn’t expect them to box-in and hide all the pipping after painting them all to match the exposed pipes in the area. I would assume they would leave them exposed to contribute to the industrial feel of the area. I quite like the look.

The base of PDVC is exactly 70 feet higher than the base of this new building, but the effect of the escarpment is mitigated from afar. You can tell PDVC is higher than Terrasses de la Chaudière, but it's very apparent that Terrasses de la Chaudière is TALLER. I think we will be pleasantly surprised by how tall this looks and how well it starts to fill the gap between the two skylines.

I just want to thank you veterans here at Skyscrapers Ottawa forum for all the discussion on this project.

It has helped me appreciate the project more.

From my view (high up at Island Park/SirJam), I had originally thought it would negatively affect my view. Instead, you've helped me be excited for what is happening and got me interested enough to take a walk around the project and look at it close up instead of from afar. Now I'm looking forward to promised cafes and parks and to seeing if the envisioned character of the community will take form.

This particular comment had me looking through the binoculars and without them, thinking about connecting the two skylines. For me, of course, Tunney's towers fill part of that skyline (in fact, so much so that I can't see The Dale at all) so the effect won't be as dramatic for me as it will be from other angles (such as the Dale!)

But you all have helped me look at the changes (and living in Westboro it is constant change) with a more positive lens and anticipation instead of dread.

Love it!

Here is what it will look like from the Champlain Bridge once Zibi is filled out.

Zibi is so awesome. It will definitely be a hotspot once it is all built and done. Hope they keep the falls at the forefront of the area's identity.

Too bad this one will be paused until the crane operator strike is over.

The Crane Operator strike and the Carpenter strike are going to kibosh pretty much every construction process except excavation. I was really looking forward to seeing the city grow all summer. Hopefully it's all resolved soon!

With its prominent location at Chaudiere Falls and with wonderful views of Parliament, when will we start seeing cafes opening in the area?

With Federal employees not going back to Chaudière's anytime soon I doubt any business would risk it. There's only a few residents right now on both side. Maybe once the towers on both side are completed and occupied...

Like others said, probably not until federal workers are allowed to go back to the office (which even then, with current trends many may still continue to work at home). I think the cafes and the restos that will keep that place lively won't come until there's enough residential in the area and retail shops that attract people. It will take time unfortunately but the good thing is it's really being built as a mixed community, which is what we all want in an area like this.
