Yeah true the Google tower looked a lot shorter in renderings to me vs how it came out in real life. This thing is gonna be a game changer for the skyline.

This should become the highest building in Austin very soon. To my knowledge the current highest building in city limits is the Pinnacle Building off of 290, whose roof sits at 1171' AMSL (though it's within feet of the Austonian). Going off the highest point of the 6XG site, the tower only needs to reach 655' to surpass Pinnacle and anything else downtown. I'm not sure the ground height numbers are entirely accurate but they should be pretty close.

There are apartments on Wood Hollow that have an incredible view. In the 80s, I lived in one of them, and even then I thought the downtown view was great (way before the building boom).

Have there ever been any photos of downtown taken from the Pinnacle and posted in SSP?

I can also see it clearly from Parmer lane and Dessau Road

I noticed it yesterday from the bike lane on South Lamar around the Broken Spoke. Obviously, it towers over that view, but I saw it off to the right poking above the trees, and I've never seen a building in downtown do that there, not even The Independent.

427MM from the forum and I went up to the top floor "launch hall" at Pinnacle Campus one day, but the windows have some kind of tinting film on them that makes it impossible to focus on anything since it bubbled and it makes everything appear blurry. The tint is also either purple or brown from what I remember.

Maybe they've removed it. Either that or this was from a different floor.

You can see a good deal of the skyline while driving towards 290 on 1826 just as you're leaving Hays County. Just past where 45 hits 1826 near Slaughter. I noticed that yesterday morning.

You're right. lol I don't know I thought it was. Way too high up, and a bit farther north, too.

Yeah, for the first time on the skyline, you can see the height difference between 6X and The Independent. I mean, it's small, but it's there.

Lets look at the elevations on the diagram drawings and see the level of the base of floor 51. Think we are still a bit shorter but the elevation is higher so it appears taller. I think the base of floor 53 in a couple of weeks will do it.

I took Iluvatx diagram and updated where the height of the tower sits currently. It's not quite at the 700' mark yet. It's approximately in the 650' ft range.

Like I posted up the thread, since 6XG sits on much higher ground than the Independent/Austonian, this one only needs to be about 650' tall to be the highest building.

the impervious cover we use for cars is astounding. I'll never understand it.
Highest and best use...yall, wtf? Tear this crap up and build another "Domain". Far more land use devoted to cars than people, which is an easy fix...relatively, with garages. Shit you could keep the surface parking for the stores, build VMU with a garage for the tenants/owners. I don't get it.

You would think the owners of these properties would want this SOOOO bad, but if they really did, it would have happened long ago. somebody help me.

Consider this.... If it is currently 650 feet or so, it's not yet at the height 321 West (675), so we are about to get a good idea of how the height of 321 will look on the skyline... just skinnier.

The roof is at level 51 which is level 50 in reality due to no 13th floor. The core seems to be at level 53 so we are at 651 feet. Anyway the crane appears to be at the 700 mark.
