I also agree. I don’t dislike this proposal but I would be fine if the waterfront remained at 5-6 storeys. Personally I would have liked it if McMaster had this property along with the HWT building. Is there any indication in those plans about parking? Why is the concern about 1600 flushing toilets not echoed as 1600 parked cars?

Yup, would have been much better to get this downtown and keep the harbourfront area as a mid-rise community

I like the first design the best - I feel with the banding on the outside the uniform look gets a bit lost with the other 2 designs - almost like they conflict with each other.

I hate saying that too because I like innovative designs, I just feel the design look straight on is lost from a distance.

Also if this is formed concrete on the outside this is not going to remain looking "white" - it's going tup end up looking brown and bland over time like some of the 80s buildings downtown with similar styles

I didn't mind any of them, but probably like this one the most, so if it's the chosen design that's great..

Maybe they'll market it as The Lily too.

Even just having a taller podium or the buildings leading up to it being a bit taller and taking a few units from this would have looked less weird. It just looks strange having a tower among such medium height buildings.

I actually like the contrast.

And maybe its solitary nature will help quell fears of a wall of tall condos spreading along the shoreline.

Are we getting back to a discussion for this project and the surrounding territory regarding the sense of space? I mean in the way your input and what the planners have envisioned meld into some sort of outcome that makes people long to belong to that place.
My mention of Baltimore's IH draws some parallels - both are Harbor locations, and in Baltimore's case a hemmed in space doesn't overwhelm the waterfront but makes it feel exciting, and as you are most likely aware, brought about the renessaince (years ago) of Baltimore's Center City.
What is perhaps possible here, is something similar. Here an iconic tower anchors the future of a part of our waterfront, and more power to it if it mimics a feature of many of Ontario's waterways - lily pads, right?

What the city is planning and working on from Pier 5 to 8 probably will end up being like waterfront redevelopments in other places. Pier 8 will be a lot denser, but there's more to come south and west of it.

Still looks like a giant smoke stack by day, giant lit cigarette sticking out of the ground by night - no imagery could probably be more accurate to describe hamilton lol..
