That said, I think Rico was talking about pre-war skyscrapers, not those from the mid-century boom. In that case, Ottawa's skyline continues to be dominated by mid-19th to early 20th Century buildings, but none are traditional/classic skyscrapers.

Yep, I meant pre-war skyscrapers (it can be a beaux-art or art deco skyscraper built in he late 40's and 50's as well but it's moot anyways).

I think it's 10 storeys on the side with the balconies and that only goes about halfway up to the top of the dome. As per google Earth the the BNS building is 33m tall measured from Bedford Row. So yeah a solid 10-11 floor tower block.

These are great photos. They really show the bulkiness of the skyline, and showcases the increases heft and height that the new towers are adding.

I'm glad to see Montreal is building towers again and beefing up the skyline. At the same time, the amount of blue-glass towers is becoming concerning and I feel its skyline will start resembling those of other cities and lose out on its distinctiveness.

Yes if it keeps going at this rate for another decade it will. I just wish there was a way to limit the blue-glass stuff to the level of infill rather than letting it dominate the skyline. Something like 2/3 the average height of the tallest 5 buildings with anything taller having to meet additional standards of quality and architectural notability / distinctiveness that the height warrants. Although I'm definitely relived that the Griffintown stuff was built at the scale it was rather than something more like Cityplace which very well could have happened without restrictions. Not that I'm against Cityplace, but I don't think it would have been a good fit for the Griffintown context.

It's a great idea. The legalities are another matter. Most private space is designed to look pretty but discourage people staying and enjoying themselves.

The interim usage of a city built, monitored and, maintained park would be quickly forgotten. It would not go well for politician and developer once the time comes to replace the space with a building.

Awesome shot! This is by far the best angle of the city. What type of drone do you use of you don't mind me asking? I have the DJI Mavic Mini and I find the picture quality is not the greatest.

I'm using a DJI Mini 2 for the Vancouver shots. It probably has an improved camera and sensor over the original Mini.

I'm now waiting for the Mini 3. It should be announced soon, and I'm sure it'll have some decent image quality upgrades.
