I see in the same London Inc article that the soon to be former Dalmar Motors VW at Baseline and Wharncliffe Rd was sold for $3.6million. Wonder who bought it and what their plans are for the site.

It's a transfer point for buses so a good place for some kind of development. Also lots of plazas for shopping nearby.

Weird because the old Patton's Place / Teppermans location to the north was rebuilt as a Audi dealer- I assumed it was just an extension of Dalmar? I assume it can operate standalone. I'm sure we will see the VW dealer move further south on Wharncliffe? I guess we will see...

Yes that's correct. The VW dealer will move to the corner of Wharncliffe and Bradley later this year.

When I posted about that last summer, I wondered whether they would demolish the VW dealership to make more room for the Audi lot. I guess not lol. I still think it's weird that Audi will be the lone dealership north of Commissioners, with the Golden Auto Mile stretching well south of Southdale now. And all the premium brands are at the south end of that stretch as well.

Yes, as mentioned the VW dealership is building a new site next to the new Porsche dealership. Which, coincidentally, Porsche is part of the chain that owns the other London VW dealership as well lol.

The retail plaza on Springbank has been sold. Would be terrific site for a major mixed use redevelopment project. Not sure who 390 Springbank London Inc. is. Would love to see a couple of high rise towers with retail/commercial on this location. The stretch between the coves and Wonderland has so much potential for much higher densities.

390 Springbank Road
type Retail plaza
price $9,000,000
seller Doral Holdings Inc.
buyer 390 Springbank London Inc.

The parking lot that is across from the RBC convention centre downtown (bordered by York St, Wellington St, and the CN railway) is on sale for $41.4 M.

Here is a link to the CBC article: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/london/th...IE2JNGTopq82CSktuMlnVBoOJLat7yRHVHngSHmA

The article also has a pretty cool site-concept diagram (created for the listing) to show the site's potential. The site is currently zoned as DA-2, so we could likely see tall mixed used buildings with commercial on the main floor, and residential above.

Let's hope a certain development company does not purchase this land.

What i find interesting is that it has now been a year since it was originally listed and they have switched to a different agent now. The concept plan is just that and unlikely to survive a future developers plans. The 30 story height also needs to go as I would expect much taller and higher density to warrant $41M purchase price.

Just a block west is the Call the Office property which as far as I've heard still hasn't sold. The properties around it if combined would be an excellent location for high density redevelopment.

And still the old gas station garage at NW corner of York and Waterloo exists. Not sure if the city owns the surface lot to the north and are waiting for an opportunity to purchase the garage for future expansion of the convention center. The east side of that block has so much potential. Could expand the convention center and build a large parking garage on that half of the block easily.

All this news report means is that the CBC has lousy London coverage. It's been on the market for over a year and no takers and why would they?

If London had very little empty developable land left in the Core then they might get it but that is certainly not the case. I'd much rather those empty parking lots filled up than one along the railway track which really doesn't effect the urban fabric of downtown.

But it's right on the train tracks. Who would want to live next to the railway with loud, polluting trains?

As long as the building is built well you get used to being next to the tracks. I used to work next to those tracks and most of the time you don't even notice the trains going by.

I agree. Maybe a 50 story height?

Also I always thought the big parking lot at the corner of Ridout and Horton would be an awesome place for a few big high rises.

I'm having trouble placing where that is. Google Maps is showing it next to River Rd but the london.ca maps are showing it next to the train tracks closer to Veterans Memorial.

It's at the west end of the east leg of Scanlan St (if you can make sense of that lol). Canusa Warehouse, the former Keiper plant, is at the top of the hill and the field that is currently being worked on beside that is this piece of property. I have no idea why is has a Gore Rd address, since there won't be any access from Gore. I'm also curious if this buy is the retailer Old Navy, or if that is some other type of holding company. If Old Navy was building a retail distribution centre in London, you'd think that would have been news by now.

Looks like the Landlord may finally be getting a contractor to install sewer and drainage for 120 York St corner. Prefab sewer drains and piping have been delivered to the site. This is likely in advance of installing drainage so it can be graded and paved over for another parking lot. So much for his development plans statement when he demolished the building there a couple of years ago.

Dancor has purchase Country Paws Boarding for $11M. Interesting move and furthers their land holdings along Wilton Grove Road. Eventually that stretch between Highbury and VMP will be fully built out with warehousing and industrial. Of course will depend on how much servicing the City has put into Wilton Grove Road together with other utilities like gas and communications.

1766 Wilton Grove Road
type Speculative industrial land
price $11,000,000
seller Country Paws Boarding Inc.
buyer Dancor Oxford Inc.

See stuff posted in here for St Thomas, but never anything about the other somewhat local city of Woodstock. Not sure the best spot for anything there. I work in Woodstock and I noticed today there is a Broccolini sign on a chunk of land on the east side of town, on County Rd 4 near the Tower Line Rd/401 interchange. Day And Ross Transport is building a large LTL cross dock facility right next to this piece of land. As we know, Broccolini is very closely tied to Amazon, so it's natural to wonder if Amazon is considering a warehouse of some type in Woodstock. Half hour down the road to KW without KW land costs.

Piece of land is in the link below, south of the CN Line, between Cty Rd 4 and the 401 and north of the truck yard shown (which as I said, has a new 110 dock terminal being built on it right now).

St Thomas has assembled a massive 800 acres development site SE of Ron McNeil and Highbury Ave in the NE corner. The goal is to land a major EV plant.

https://lfpress.com/news/local-news/st-t...a-site-eyes-electric-vehicle-parts-plant

Hopefully this will kick-off planning by Elgin and Middlesex counties and London and St. Thomas and the province in the rebuilding of Highbury Ave into a 4 lane highway to deal with the safety issues. Would love to see it divided and straighten out.
