there is nothing open other than Save on Foods, once some more places open it will be more attractive. a few restaurants will help, the area is full of pizza, pho and not much else . We have to do all the way to Fleetwood to get some Chinese food.

At "The Line" rental building they have annouced the 4 places going in: Pho 68, Ramen, Noodle store, and a nail store.

Definitely going to change once the last two buildings are in and the shops open up. Throw in the shops across the street at Century City Surrey and people won't recognize the area.

Whenever the restaurant pad space is developed - assuming it's popular chain restaurant like Earls or Cactus Club - that'll add critical mass/demand to the area.

Is there supposed to an earls or cactus club scale restaurant going in? Because that would be awesome. This area is lacking in that department. However I don’t even think Surrey has a Cactus Club yet…and I think there is only the one Earls in Guilford so either would really be a welcome addition.

A second crane has gone up for the next phase.

Here are some of the places going up at the base of the rental tower:

There is a dentist office in every new development these days it seems. I did a quick google maps search of dentist office's in Whalley and got 14

11 in uptown New West within a 3 or 4 block radius.
16 in Burquitlam/Lougheed
16 in Metrotown
9 in Burnaby Heights (all on Hastings within 10 blocks)

You get the point… there’s a lot. What’s up with that

Too much corn syrup and sucrose in our diets = great business model for dentists.

(.....and gym owners)

That's funny you mention it. My friends and I have a recurring joke about new developments. There's always:

- Dentist office
- Nail Salon
- Coffee Shop
- Sushi

As of 2021, there were 18+ million individual teeth in Surrey mouths (if all were adults, that is!), so that means we need a lot of dentists!

I'm on an over 4-month wait to see my dentist, they are just always booked full, More of them certainly helps.

There's a gym/exercise room that is on the ground floor on KGH side, is it for residents? I've never seen it in use.

Haha. I have the same joke with a friend of mine. Add Subway and it’s 100% accurate.

4 month wait? You book your next dentist appointment literally on your way out of your appointment, 6 months in advance. I’ve never had to wait for a dentist appointment here in the lower mainland. And if you have to wait, go to a different dentist. You’re not legally obliged to stick with one dentist. If you’re choosing to wait, then that’s your decision. There are 14 in a 6 block radius in my neighborhood alone as stated above. My dentist has actually been calling ME for an appointment. I’ve just been too busy.

The backlog, if anything, has to do with covid. Not a lack of supply.

I can only do saturdays, so it's over a 4 month wait to get a Saturday appointment. I was in the middle of a cleaning so they did the one half and I had to schedule to go back and get the next part but there was nothing for 4 months, i am on a wait list and they used to text me if something opened up but I just told them to stop texting lol, its too much. It's not an important appointment so not really bothered.

But here in Burquitlam we have been gaining dentists with every new build it seems.

Sushi Street opens May 15 according to their Google listing. Not sure how accurate that is.
