As someone who has unfortunately spent way too much time in hospitals, I’m excited for your health care practitioners and patients that they’ll have a new facility that should be very efficient.

Exactly ^^ Hospitals are inherently melancholy except for the maternity ward. Everything is is because something is wrong and people need medical care. So they will never be great places, but a nice modern facility with good equipment, combined with the already world renowned quality of care at St. Paul's, this will be a big improvement.

Weird the Fire Department Technical Rescue or Hazmat team seems to been at the site the past two days doing something in a trench. Like 4-5 trucks and two engines.

Likely training. They'll often work with construction companies to get access to trenches, cranes, etc. to make training more realistic.

Thanks! Their training center is nearby at 1330 Chess Street as well.

Truck strike over and cement production back on line at Lafarge so the concrete shortage should be easing over the next few weeks.

Nothing that interesting. They did lay some asphalt for a new road on the site near the staging area for forming etc so maybe we'll see the fifth crane go up soon.

With the help of 516 concrete trucks, 4,600m3 worth of concrete (or a volume of about half a million soccer balls) was continuously poured for 12+ hours into the foundation of the new St. Paul’s Hospital.

This large seismic footing will help the building resist damage from future earthquakes.
PCL Construction is pouring floors and pillars for each level of the hospital, starting with the 4-level underground parkade. By the end of the year, you might even see the main floor of the new hospital peek out from the ground.

The update says "All four cranes have been erected" so i suspect that is all we will see for this phase.

looks like that asphalt on the bottom there that allows site access from Station and National street will also be used keep National open when the current sewer/water construction goes into the next phase on Station. hard to explain but you will see the National street flow shift over and cut through that corner of the site for a month or two while they finish the sewer connection there. hard to properly explain but when you are in the area you will see how it all lines up. smart solution to keeping National open. even now you see they have rerouted Westbound National between Station and Main for the current phase of sewer/water work....I am just happy they kept it open.

Just noticed that National will curve instead of the current version which has the turn onto Station Street.
