I agree. It should be the opposite.
And correct me if I'm wrong. But a visitor can fly into PHL or take Amtrak, and not wear a mask on the plane/train/uber/taxi, but must put a mask on before entering their hotel.

Cue one flew over the cuckoo's nest theme song. I hope the lawsuit against the city works out in the businesses favor, or the city reverses action, it's really looking comical at this point.

Nature abhors a vacuum. With the end of the Ringling Brothers' circus, something had to take its place.

May CDR is out. So far, all Lowrises.

6808 Ridge, a nice development on Ridge Ave in the Northwest.

1031 Germantown, a townhome development in NoLibs. Replacing the current site of the Vesper Day Club.

1631 S 52nd, a very confusing pair of parking garages.

1238 Belmont, a very interesting development on Belmont Avenue just north of Girard.

1649 N 5th, a nice development in the northeast.

2001 Richmond, the second phase of that project next to graffiti pier. Really hype for this one.

Surprised Vesper is going out!

1631 S. 52nd - I think those are storage units. I haven't looked too far into it yet though.

1649 N. 5th - that's really interesting that you would call that Northeast! That projects on the Northern border of Olde Kensington which I would solidly consider North Philadelphia.

I know, that area has so much potential with so many cool old buildings in it and you can see Cira Centre in the distance. The gas station really drags it down.

Has demo begun? The rear of the current building looks rough. And was the new building denied by the PHC (what it appears in the writeup, though I skimmed).

Even though Vesper is gross, I'm surprised it's closing. I'm guessing the landowner made out well by selling. The new townhouses look very nice though.

Is there a pool or public rooftop bar planned anywhere in the Post Brothers NoLibs development?

Looks like PHC staff approved the demo but rejected the height. Unfortunately, there will likely be a height reduction before it’s submitted to the commission for final approval but hopefully the overall design will remain.

There is. They initially removed a pool from their plans but they brought it back for their latest incarnation.

Rejecting on height here is so stupid. There are literally highrises surrounding it. Does it need to meet the datum of the Sunoco across the street?

There is a 12 story building 50' away on the corner of 22nd & Walnut. And the Roosevelt building (on the same block) is 9 stories with no setbacks...

I don't get it...

Ton of development on Ridge in East Falls/Rox. I think there's like 4 or 5 apartment/condo developments under construction or recently finished within a few blocks of the Wawa. Big one going in right by the EF bridge and some smaller ones in various stages.

And the WH just announced they will NOT appeal the judge’s ruling. The Philly Farce continues…

Two 100+ unit projects and one 40+ unit project coming to Manayunk soon that haven't yet been announced-- you'll hear the NIMBY head explosions from Center City when they are, so listen for them.

Roxborough has a few more coming but this one at CDR and the application at historical will be the last big ones for awhile... though I've heard rumors of a very very big project coming up there soon. Again, the NIMBY heads will go off like tactical nukes when that comes out so listen up--

That area of Ridge Ave in particular is really popping off. In a few years there will be several hundred more units than existed a year ago.

That stretch on Ridge was just re-zoned CA-1 to prevent more development so these will be the last unless developers find a way to push to other parts of Ridge. One 24 unit building is coming to the denser part of Ridge south of Gorgas Park-- already has a permit but no one has noticed yet.

There was some new equipment on site this morning at the project on Delaware Ave across from the waterfront square towers (this project). Its been leveled for a while so it seems like construction may be starting up soon.

People are weird. Why wouldn't you want Ridge to be a walkable, densely populated street.

I've lived in Rox for a year now and people here hate development of all types-- multi-unit, single-family, retail, road work, utility work, you name it.

The multi-units gets them the most because of parking-- even people with driveways and garages complain about the parking because they don't want people parallel parking in the spaces in front of their houses. That's not a joke, that's an actual complaint.

It's a sad reminder of how provincial Philly really is-- someone in the neighborhood told me "our way of life is being destroyed" because of a few new apartment buildings.

Great neighborhood though-- I love it. It's been even better since I was banned from the neighborhood facebook page
