Hot damn. Glad I checked the thread today. Well worth the wait. I'm not 100% sold on the base and I still am not a huge fan of the diamonds as I think x-braces would have looked better, but one cannot deny the extraordinary quality of the finishes and that this is going to look fantastic both up close and on the skyline.

I remember the lobby and office spaces in the old 270 Park. Spent lots of late nights there, as my GF at the time was working for JP Morgan, and she would work till midnight or so, then we'd have very late dinner. I'd hang out in the upper floors, waiting for her to finish crap for a more senior banker who was probably sleeping by that hour.

It was a nice building, smart and understated. This, however, has spectacular interiors.

Comparison to Foster’s early 350 Park…

It would be a crime against humanity if Roth doesn’t raze 350 Park now and develop it with Rudin’s adjacent tower.

We were having this discussion over on YF, but if you look at the render closely there is definitely cross brace lighting all over this thing. It's gonna look great at night.

Are they intentionally not showing the full Madison Ave. side? Maybe the waterfalls haven't been completely finalized yet?

Also, what's that glass box on the Madison Ave. corner? I assume a new street entrance to Grand Central?

That entrance has always been there, (it's still there and active now). But remember, they are going to make it fit in better with the public plaza. In the original proposal, it would have been inside the indoor public plaza.

You can see the glass box in this early rendering...

I'm glad they made the entire base open. It wasn't clear that's what they were going to do.

This actually looks pretty good! Why the heck did they hold out for so long, though?
Already I'm getting cosplay ideas, time to hit the sewing machine and the gym!

Just noticed this post, but that’s not accurate. The top of the next to last level ( the crown) will be the conference/client center, just as has been depicted. The renderings just indicate that both (at least from the rendering) will be illuminated. Think of the Empire State lighting.

The conference center is the brightest space at the top in this rendering.

Wow. Getting Grand Hyatt vibes as well with the base and the facade and it's only a few years out from finishing. The finger building surely is going to look glorious.

That lobby is what dreams are made of. Holy f'n smokes. JP Morgan has certainly earned the grandeur. This takes my breath away as much as the Art Deco finance giant lobbies of 100 years ago.
100%. The lobby is just stellar. That ceiling is so spaceship cool. That staircase reminds me of old Penn Station. Legit one of the best looking things I've seen in a while.

Foster worked on this one yes? Who's working on 175 Park again? I would love to see this kind of quality on that building. My god this is amazing.

There's also alot of the mechanical space in the crown.

In this rendering it looks like there's a giant crown, but in others there seem to be habitable floors up there.

That's because 1) It is a giant crown and 2) There are habitable floors up there.
