I wonder how long Tacomio lasts. The Alberni location looks tiny, maybe it can work as a takeout only location.

The old Gramercy Grill location on Arbutus is being taken over by the Stable House group for a French bistro:

A prominent Kitsilano corner is set to be home to a new French brasserie, and the project is the venture of a growing Vancouver restaurant group with three much-loved businesses already under its belt.

The team behind The Stable House - the South Granville destination for all things wine and charcuterie - as well as neighbourhood Italian spot Fiore Famiglia, and Fiore Mercato, its marketplace sibling have taken over 2685 Arbutus Street.

The restaurant space, which was vacated at the end of 2021 by longtime tenant Gramercy Grill, will become a French brasserie called Coquette...

I always saw red burrito as a bad knockoff of Chipotle when we didn't have them up here. Surprised they are still around.

There's no magic in making a mission style burrito. RB is/was just fine to me.

Red Burrito is decent, but they need to space themselves away from Chipotle’s. They should look to open a spot along Main Street where there are no Chipotle’s.

Quesada or some other place is opening across the street from Budgies, or in that area.

Budgies is veggie only though I think, so maybe there's a market to be had. Budgies is great!

Yeah, all of these places have different flavour profiles and it depends on your mood that day.

they are doing too much too fast under the new ownership. this will be a disaster for sure. Downtown does not need 3 locations.

I mean Robson/English Bay sort of make sense but this Howe Street location is just idiotic. Maybe Bella Gelateria has a much stronger following with tourists than I'm giving them credit for

Instead of opening three locations they should have bought a better location at either Robson or Davie.

And the fact they bought the OG location for $1.6 million and almost instantly gave it up was also pretty dumb.

they will do good for the next 6 months. once the rain and cold set in. We will see 2 lease signs for sure.

I actually drove past the new locations a couple times over the last few days and looked inside .... both had 1 or 2 customer at best. no line up like they had in Coal Harbour year round.

Yes those were the days-lineups of at least two hundred people all day every day I know I drove by there several times a day.

Of course the place was such a clown show even with that volume of business they often couldn't make payroll so the latest doubtful moves should surprise no one.

I think I have only tried them once, years ago. I remember their ice-cream being nothing special, yet expensive. I also didn't even know that they have a location in Metrotown.

I mean, all the best to them but it is just ice-cream.

If there is one ice-cream parlor that I find noteworthy, it is the Sweet Tooth Creamery in Osprey Village in Pitt Meadows. Also Ricky Point in Port Moody has never disappointed, just like their New Westminster location.

After James left Bella things went sideways IMO. There are better places now, but his original stuff was amazing.
