Very happy to see the Nature's Path building proceeding, that was a true vacant lot that added nothing to the area.
And glad I wasn't the only one who had those feelings about Archetype, I walk down there so often and it's such a sad site, and the awfulness spills over into the sad excuse for sidewalks at the property, just muddy gravel paths made even worse in winter. Having this lot will be quite transformative for opening up 1st Ave. more, right now it's kind of scummy. Looking forward to when the Main St. urbanity goes all the way up to the Skytrain (except Red Truck, that must stay, would love it to be nestled between new buildings though. All of the other units on this stretch are class C office space and totally miscellaneous other low profile uses, who should move elsewhere. I know it would be hard to find cheap rents, and I feel for them, but this area is ripe for rejuvenation and I don't think anyone would miss what is there. Sorry Brinks, you can haul ass down to Boundary Rd. or something, this area it too prime fore that.
On top of the stalled (?) Onni project, there is also another project on the south side of 1st, and then of course Archetype. But it only takes a few to get the ball rolling, and hopefully get a nice solid connection from Main St. to the GNW station, it really isn't that far. Main and 2nd might even closer to Great Northern Way Station than Main and Broadway, and not super uphill either.
