Keane article

This is pretty interesting.

"Atlanta is the only place I’ve worked where the city doesn't really recognize the relationship between the physical city and the prosperity of the people."

Might be more dense than many neighborhoods in Atlanta. Bring on the new housing.

Looks great except for the hideous parking deck. Oh, and traffic, yikes.

Out of curiosity is the the SONO boundaries? As a runner I cross Peachtree, N Peachtree, Pediment all the time. It is soooooo strange how much different it feels crossing the Connector. Even though it is technically Downtown it does't feel like Downtown at all. It seems much more Midtown but still kinda lost.

That's because it is Midtown in almost every single way. [1] [2]

The way I always explain it is that SoNo is legally Downtown, but culturally Midtown.

1072 West Peachtree

Does anyone know if these are changes made after the initial DRC presentation?

I really love the brick they use especially the on the entire length of the skyscraper. The balconies on the bottom floors are also incredible and create a new interesting pattern.

Agreed. Give me dark masonry all day long.

This design is much more cohesive!

I think the original rendering looks better than this.. I think everything associated with the double podium looks great, however everything above the podiums needs to be reconsidered. I think the brick will look dated rather quickly. If you think that the multiple fluctuating offset windows/dark brick panels looks great then take a look at the tower rising at 111 John Wesley Dobbs (near GState campus) .. The side with the offsets looks rather messy. Imagine that on a larger scale at a prominent location in the skyline.

I think this new rendering is clearly an improvement over the original. The tower has a much higher percentage of glass than the JWD student tower. That combined with the brick facade and I think this will look great.

I think the facade color bodes well with the One Atlantic Center and Midtown Union to the north. I'm excited.

I love the look of this building. The dark brick and cement window frames remind me of one of my favorite mid-century buildings in midtown:

Nice brick!
Nice balconies!
Awful window arrangement!

This offset window trend has got to stop!

If you want a sure bet in putting your building on the fast track to looking dated before you get out of the starting gate - then jump on this bandwagon. Everything in moderation folks.

Bell-bottoms and skinny jeans went out for a reason - and yes, skinny jeans are out.

Yeah I don't really prefer the offset windows, but what I really don't like is the frankensteining of the design and abandoning the style at around the 19th or 20th floors. UGH.
