Having ROW DTLA is a tremendous boost, but projects like 4th/Central and City Market (approved by the LA City Council in June 2018) will really accelerate growth.

200 Mesnagers st - Across the street from state park in Chinatown.
The building was demolished recently and yesterday found a hole with shoring, looks like the 7 story apt is happening https://www.gbdarchitects.com/portfolio-item/200-mesnager/

The Onni lot at Olympic and Hill was closed today. That’s unusual in my experience. No heavy equipment there, but maybe tomorrow?

That’s basically showing why LA has a huge manufacturing base. LA wants and needs that. It’s just unfortunate it is where it is.

sure will be nice when that intersection is one of the parts of dt where the view finally is ready for prime time.

google.com

I can think of all the yrs I'd go through dt, feel good about the improved portions and then come upon sections like Hill & olympic, & lose my enthusiasm.

Speaking of Olympic/Hill, other good news is that the former Loit retail space has "Leased" signs up. Not sure what's coming, but it's a big space.

If you're referring to the space to the left, that sign was up at least by January 2022....when the google mobile last drove by. Hard to say what is or isn't going on in such rental deals.

I went by a retail space in the SF valley just yesterday & what looked like full prep signage for a new restaurant had been installed...from a distance, it seemed it was displayed not long ago. But when I looked more closely, I could tell the stall had been prepped possibly before Covid hit everyone.

It's also the many parts of dt like the NE corner of Hill & Olympic, not just the SE corner, that need to be filled in ASAP. But things are getting better & better.

In some ways, dtla today is in better shape or more mainstream than it was even over 60, 80 yrs ago.

Yeah. That's the one. I didn't realize that it was old news.

This is another part of dt where I have long wanted for yrs to see it cleaned up & filled in....I recall going to a concert at Disney hall in 2019 & using that narrow parking lot to the left, the one above the tunnel:

That's a really slick looking project--do you know how many units are proposed?

Modern animal (vet clinic). Finally starting their buildout.

Cool. We need a vet clinic on this side of downtown. I'm sure that it will be very successful if they do a good job.

It's happening for real. The lot is closed, workers are on site and equipment is arriving.

Noice.

On another note, someone not too long ago mentioned that they weren't sure which proposed projects were "real" vs. those just being entitled to be sold to another developer. I somehow managed to get on the Colliers list for commercial building sales (I'm in advertising, not real estate or development), so will update here on notable downtown properties I see. This morning Colliers emailed about 900 Santa Fe, which is currently on the market. This one is just south of Bestia, and across from the Warner Music HQ. Couldn't find this on Urbanize, but I know it's got an official name.

^The lot at 900 Santa Fe is only 6,674 square feet so this would have to include adjacent lots. I don't see that any of them have filed plans, so they could be looking to sell the land and the buyer would have to entitle. Maybe the rendering is representative of what would be allowed under TOC Tier 3?

You'll see a bobcat tooling around in the rain. Maybe more equipment to arrive in the coming days.
