Any way to make the image larger? Also, anyone know what this building is going to be? Assuming an office, but just speculating.

I drove by Baydo's Downtown construction site too this afternoon and still nothing above ground, not sure what the building across The Delta Hotel will be, but it's definitely taller than what it once was.

Offices, yes, if they're sticking to their original plan. I can't seem to find the rendering that was floating around. It wasn't much to look at, but I still really like this one. The old building had zero presence on that corner, whereas this will add a bit of "welcome to downtown" bulk, especially coming in from the Broadway Bridge. I'm also happy to see the area between River Landing and the rest of downtown fill in a bit. It would be nice if the office proposal for the NE corner of 4th and 20th happened, but who knows how likely that is these days. In any case, this is a great corner for more density!

Ah, there it is! Thank you. Well, it's unique! I don't love the signage on the roof or the columns on the front, but I like that they're taking advantage of the views they'll have from the top floor. It reminds me of an airport control tower.

Airport Control tower, or more shoddy version of River Quarry (old police station) that’s been empty for 5 years now since it’s completion. I sure hope they aren’t trying for commercial and that plans have changed a bit… would at least make for a great space of retail/restaurants since that’s missing in the River Landing towers (staff there are begging for a good lunch and dinner spot!).

Alt Hotel’s Bokkeh is planning a patio this summer though!

Thanks for this. I was by there yesterday and it does appear that on the 4th ave side, the roof line does extend beyond the building wall, so it does appear that it may be generally following the design of the rendering that was shared earlier. It will be interesting to see what it looks like with the clading etc.

In the StarPhoenix article today he mentions that he’d like it near Innovation Place. So much space there - please let the university give them land!

I wish it were possible for them to consolidate and expand at their current main campus, but it doesn't sound like that's in the cards. I don't love the thought of the dead-zone on 33rd they'll leave behind. That location gives me a Regina Centre Crossing vibe --- maybe parts of the property can be converted to commercial uses.

I echo your fears about 33rd if Sask Poly was to leave — maybe they could expand the campus at its current site by redeveloping those run down cul de sacs that abut Idylwyld? I know the city has been trying to redevelop that land for a long time, but evidently nobody has been willing to take the plunge. Granted, it would be a risky move for a commercial developer, but for an institution like Sask Poly it might make way more financial and practical sense to expand nearby, rather than trying to build a whole new greenfield campus. And I’m sure the City would be much more willing to negotiate than the University would be, given that long term redevelopment plans for the University lands are already well underway.

As for an “innovation corridor”, that 33rd street bridge idea the City seems to like would sure help to link Sask Poly to Innovation Place…

I would hope for a split campus set up. Surely The current location can be renovated and kept active as a campus. No need for mechanics and nurses in the same campus as an example?

I hope they’re thinking big - integrate the existing campus with the RUH hospital/U of S Innovation Place campus via a new 33rd street bridge.

Main reason i’m support of the bridge - it’s absolutely unpleasant to walk on Broadway and College drive bridge both in regards to noise and being splashed. CP train bridge is sketchy as heck too. it’s time for a nice bridge in the area that handles low density traffic and buses to and from U of S and SIAST’s new and old campus

It's nice to see the Tees and Persse work continue --- I can't get enough of these small-scale, organic projects. That part of the downtown in particular has such potential. Thanks for the photos!

It would be much more affordable to build a pedestrian-only bridge somewhere between the weir and College drive than another traffic bridge.

I am also not sure the city needs more traffic driving on Spadina between 25th and 33rd. I could see plenty of traffic travelling from Erindale/Evergreen/Willowgrove/Forest Grove to downtown cutting through the University. Spadina already has capacity issues and I do not want to see a roadway expansion that would encroach on the pedestrian pathways.

What if… BRT only for the university/SIAST plus a pedestrian walkway. That would be epic- taxpayers would be furious here. It could be built to be LRT ready even !
