This is sort of an odd statement to make in regards to this tower. It is fundamentally altering the skyline. New York no longer looks like it used to and it won't look like it does now for much longer. That is the essence of the city.

What era of time are you referring to? The skyline of the 1930's had a lot of spires downtown. Then a lot of flat tops came up high. Midtown does not look like it did 20 years ago. A new skyline is evolving. The sheer density and vibrancy of the city says New York to me, however the skyline changes.

Not odd at all if you read the comment. He wants a more multi-colored skyline. As far as “fundamentally” altering the skyline, again, I think not. New York has plenty of supertall skyscrapers. Brooklyn Tower would be the example you are looking for.

Ironically, I generally don't like buildings lit up at night. I'd rather see the lights of windows. That being said, here's an example of color in the skyline. I'd just like to see some besides blue glass (which is hardly classic NYC) during the day.

^ If that's all you want, just head to Times Square.

I think maybe you misunderstood, judging by your reply. My apologies... maybe I could have made my intention clearer. The photo of the Empire State Building lit up red (and other colors at other times) is an example of old New York with color. So is Times Square, as you pointed out. Therefore, if old and/or existing New York already has color, it's an established precedent, and new buildings of color in New York won't be breaking any purported taboos.

Anyway, thanks for the photos. Always appreciated.

Oh! Do I see some elevator shafts starting to form?

I don't know what you're talking about. If it's as you say, then you have no complaints to begin with.

But enough of that, as we still don't have an official rendering of this tower.

Speaking of, using this drawng from Xing, we can see where we are in construction as of yesterday, and how much more remans...

On the next level, they will have completed the half of the first diamond bracing...

A little bit of old New York mixed in with the new....

It looks like 277's new plaza is also finished, they just have to clear out the fencing and assorted trash.

It’s mostly completed. There was still work on the northern end.

Meanwhile, no on mentions a rendering….

JPMorgan Chase Still Moving ‘Full Steam Ahead’ on New Headquarters
CEO Jamie Dimon makes clear in his annual shareholders letter that hybrid and remote work won't derail plans for the new tower near Grand Central

BY TOM ACITELLI
APRIL 4, 2022

Quote:
“We are moving full steam ahead with building our new headquarters in New York City,” Dimon’s letter said, echoing a similar commitment he made in last year’s letter. “We will, of course, consolidate even more employees into this building, which will house between 12,000 and 14,000 people. We are extremely excited about the building’s public spaces, state-of-the-art technology, and health and wellness amenities, among many other features. It’s in the best location in one of the world’s greatest cities.”
Quote:
JPMorgan’s 2.5 million-square-foot tower at 270 Park Avenue is supposed to open in 2024, a year when the Manhattan office market in general might finally be shaking off the worst of the pandemic’s effects on leasing and occupancy.
