High-level redevelopment plan for a strip mall in Clayton Park (Halifax). Approx. 3000 new residential units and doubling of the commercial space. More significantly, reconfiguring a gigantic parking lot into a quasi-urban environment. This has long been a sort of bellweather site for what redevelopment of suburban parking lots might look like on a larger scale and there are sites with similar potential on 2 of the other corners of this intersection.

This is separate from the Mumford/West End Mall redevelopment plans which are a bit closer to DT.

Looks like a good re-use. How is transit in that area?

Scotiabank arena hosting an esports event doesn't say much to me. How many spectators attended and how big of a global attraction was it compared to regular league play. You're right though. I guess I would have preferred the direction of darts or pool over NBA/NHL.
At some point, Toronto will rename itself 'Scotiabank Toronto'.
There will be some opposition but it will pass nevertheless.
So long as they get to vote every year on the next corporate name!

Fairly good for cul-de-sac suburbia. Lacewood Terminal (about .5km uphill) is one of the busier transfer points in the Halifax Transit system and there are plans for an electric BRT service in the area, with one line on Dunbrack and another on Lacewood. Most people in the area already live within easy walking distance of a bus stop serving multiple routes - there are a lot of pedestrian trails that make this achievable even though the street network north of Main Ave is a total mess.

How is the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa and, the Wendat peoples any different from other traditional territories when it comes to corporate sponsorship? And, why Scotiabank?

Love that Halfax proposal! A little downtown in an otherwise suburban area. That's the way to expand the number of 15-minute neighbourhoods.

Ditto with the St-Albert proposal.

Pretty Sure Toronto Dominion bought the rights to our name for at least a few more years.

Promenade Neuf Phase Two on Acadie Avenue in downtown Dieppe NB (Moncton suburb).

Phase One, just down the street, is taller and more tower like. I appreciate the fact the two buildings aren't clones of one another.

Huge development risks ‘Manhattan-ization’ of Cambridge, councillors say
Proposal for almost 2,000 residential units in Hespeler would add 10 buildings ranging in height from 12 to 30 storeys

CAMBRIDGE — The proliferation of very tall, dense high rises could lead to the “Manhattan-ization” of Cambridge, councillors said Tuesday at a public meeting about a massive new development in Hespeler.

The proposed development at 410 Queen St. W. would add two million square feet of mixed-use space, including almost 2,000 residential units, in 10 buildings ranging in height from 12 to 30 storeys.

For all the towers mentioned there are many more mid rise and low rise projects going up in Kelowna.

I think this new proposal is particularly handsome:

Manhattan is defined by the turn of the 19th century bubble with thousands of doorman apartment blocks reaching as high as 15 floors. It was also quick to institute maximum densities and strict massing policies for taller towers which are still very much intact today. What these NIMBYS are calling Manhattanization really bears no resemblance to Manhattan itself and it just comes across as loony. Call it as it is. It's a mediocre model with absolutely no identity.

A big improvement over the original design. Sometimes it great for a project to stall for a few years.

Nice quality filler building. Of course, the installed glass needs to be curved and no spandrel glass (Toronto developers have a propensity to add spandrel glass despite all the brick making up the facade)

KITCHENER — A 30-storey apartment building set for King Street East and Charles Street East is rental housing desperately needed for Kitchener, said the developer behind the project.

“This is good quality housing targeted at the middle market,” Stephen Litt of Vive Development told a neighbourhood meeting organized by the city Wednesday night.

1001 KING STREET E, KITCHENER
A celebration of history, this project will pay homage to the former headquarters of the Onward Manufacturing Company by incorporating original design details into this new residential development. A wide variety of amenities including a pool, dog exercise area and live-work units will provide residents with an exciting live-play opportunity, while also having direct access to the LRT outside their front door.

Redesign of Buro Ole Scheeren towers in Vancouver.

Previous design:

Now by Perkins & Will, the previously proposed 48 (449 ft) and 49 (458 ft) storey towers
will now be replaced by 56 (541 ft) and 59 (545 ft) storey towers.

Quote:
The West Tower closest to the intersection is now 541 ft with 56 storeys, while the East Tower is 545 ft with 59 storeys. The taller heights intrude into the 341-ft height limit of View Cone 3.2 emanating from Queen Elizabeth Park, but height increases of up to 550 ft are permitted under the city’s General Policy for Higher Buildings, as the site is within the city’s Central Business District Shoulder area.

With the added height, both towers now carry a total of 1,100 homes combined, with 735 units or 67% designated as a form of rental housing tenure. This new figure is almost twice as many homes as the previous proposal.
