Man nothing about the design of the Hard Rock says Chicago. It's like they grabbed an unused casino design to quickly through into the renderings. Hopefully its just placeholder.

Thank God that Mccormick project is out. Easily the most boring design.

I think the 78 or tribune will take it. Hoping for the 78.

I'll be fine with any of them except that hard rock abomination.

Please God, anything but that.

Being second to Vegas would be very impressive for our city in my opinion...Nothing wrong with Chicago becoming more of an entertainment destination

Forget my previous post, Bally's tribune site has a new design

Slide 14

The presentation also says that the observation tower at the 78 will be 1,078ft (Slide 30) and that wells-wentworth connector will be complete this November

It appears that all three proposals are trying to make themselves more attractive to the city branding themselves as the start of a new entertainment district.

Rivers starting the 78

Hard Rock starting One Central

Ballys starting the River District

If we're the #1 gambling destination between Vegas and Atlantic City, aren't we already the "Vegas of the Midwest"?

I think I'm fine with where we are. I don't think Chicago becoming more of an entertainment destination based on casino gambling would be a good thing for the city.

Is NYC not close to that? I thought they had a massive online gambling scene. With some casino permits to be going out soon. Or have I been mistaken?

Preferring the updated design of Bally's Tribune. The rounded tower is an improvement and podium is way less shitty now.
Would be awesome if the Erie Street ped bridge is back under consideration, IIRC it was cut from the original River District PD at the last minute.

^ Crains says the Erie St bridge is back, and that there will also be roadway extensions of Superior St and Jefferson St.

Like clockwork, River North Residents Association is against Bally's proposal

I know absolutely nothing about this organization. But that name is sending off major red flags. What kind of group are they?

RNRA have a large sway in opposing new developments in Reilly's wards over concerns of "parking & crime". Bally's proposal is in Burnett's ward, so he'll pretty much ignore RNRA.

Nice. I'm all for extending Jefferson, especially if it is forward-thinking enough to accommodate the future North Branch transitway (connecting Lincoln Yards to Ogilvie).

RNRA may have Riley's nuts in a small jar but not Burnett's.

Middle-aged busybodies who think they're hot shit because they moved to River North in 1997 after their divorce.
