Ironically, we seen them putting up the sign on Dunsmuir yesterday, but it looks like mcminsen beat us to getting the photo up.

I guess this does extend the urban fabric of W. Georgia deeper into the surrounding area and make the CBD look less like DT Calgary

Zeidler has done some stuff for CF before with a food court and skybridge. 2 Queen West next to Eaton Centre. Also did the Germain hotel in Calgary

They opened a Vancouver office in 2019 and are doing that hotel next to the future Oak Street SkyTrain station.

Great to hear them opening a Vancouver office. Their projects have been great and could be much needed shot in the arm to the local architectural scene here.

Looks like a Franken-building to me.
Is the solid panelling supposed to resemble the Nordstrom cladding?
Why does the podium seem to undulate rather than follow a straight line?

Not keen on the big bulky mechanical addition up top.
Reminds me of Wynwood Green in Coquitlam (but not in spandrel).

I think it's that top section next to the roof that curves out but the rest of it looks flat. And I doubt the "surprise" on the roof is a gigantic mechanical room

My money is still firmly on it being a W Hotel, but as a wild card guess, it might also be a multi-brand property. This has become common with Marriott, although I doubt W and Ritz-Carlton would work together. Once we see details we should know if this is likely. Roof top patios could be a good clue.

Podium is horrible and needs to be refined. Tower resembles the present one but has a nice update. Anyone notice that they put the HSBC building on Howe Street where Holt's is?

If you want to see particularly clunky top-heavy buildings check out any of the new buildings in Edmonton with the word Hat at the end of a building's name. Completely out of scale with the rest of the building. I have difficulty seeing any architectural groups high-fiving themselves over those designs.

Really? I think with the rumors around Ritz Carlton that it will more likely end up with that brand. The entrance looks tame for a W Hotel.

Here in Seattle our W Hotel isn’t particularly glitzy.

The W in San Francisco isn't glitzy either, it's more trendy/low key then Glitzy/upscale.

Lotte Hotels from Korea has opened in Seattle, maybe they are going to open in Vancouver, they are a brand looking out for.
