The Omni Hotel, Street-Level Deep Dive

The Omni Hotel, planned for the southern end of Fayetteville Street, is going through the Design Review process. With that, we can peep some early plans to get an idea of what we’re getting at the street-level. There’s plenty here if you’re into proposed architectural plans of a building but I’m going to focus on the street-level elements and spaces. It’s a mixed bag from what I see but it’s probably what we should expect from a single-use tower focused mainly on visitors. Let’s take a look at each side and what the plans tell us at this point in time.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Construction has started at the end of Fayetteville Street on the new Omni Hotel, which will be the anchor hotel for the multi-million-dollar Raleigh Convention Center expansion project.

Fences are blocking off the site. Crews and cranes are ripping up a parking lot that sat across the street from the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts.

The Omni expects the work here to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2028.

Sorry for the VERY late response, but no, not even close to being the new tallest. Not that it is a big difference compared to the original proposal, but the final floor count will actually be 29 floors (increased by 2 floors). The tallest building under construction is the 37-story/399ft Highline, which will be the 4th tallest in Raleigh.
