Tiller Terrace will provide 214 apartments in the Goose Hollow neighborhood of Portland, OR. Located directly across from the Providence Park TriMet light rail station, the project is a mixed-use, six-story midrise on 20,000 square feet of land. The development includes 3,500 square feet of retail space, a community room, an outdoor terrace, and classroom space. The project will obtain the nationally recognized Green Globes® certification.

Initially designed as a market-rate project, Guardian repositioned the development to help meet the growing need for affordable housing in central Portland. Tiller Terrace will serve households who earn no more than 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI), providing needed housing for central Portland’s workers.

Thanks for the photos. Random thought: it would be cool if they could cover 405 and use that space for more housing and other amenities. There just isn’t much space left over there.

This is not the first time the idea of capping I-405 has been floated. In the 1990s, then-mayor Vera Katz proposed capping 28 of the 36 blocks that were destroyed by the creation of the freeway in the 1950s. That was a much more ambitious proposal and would have cost many hundreds of millions.

Capping 405 is something I really wished Vera Katz would have been able to get done in her time in office. She was involved in a number of great projects, but this one would have made such an impact on Portland.....well that and getting a MLB team.

Do you mean the lot serving the one-story strip mall with a Wells Fargo bank branch? You probably would need to demo the strip mall to redevelop the whole site that includes the parking.

Alternatively, the strip mall could remain with a dedicated pedestrian walkway between the new development and the strip mall storefronts.

Seriously though, I used to live in Portland Towers on SW 21st and Salmon and my apartment looked right out at the sign, although a bit further away than this proposal. Provided a nice light glow at night. Always regret I moved out.

Ah, the Ovlov! Back in 2006, I dated a woman who lived in an apartment directly behind that sign. Wow, time flies! I took this shot from her balcony.

It appears the 7-story housing project at 930 SW 15th Ave is abandoned after sitting in Approved to Issue since 2019.

Its "sister building" across the street at 911 SW 15th Ave remains Approved (for now).
