AUSTIN | Waterline | 1,034 Feet | 73 Floors | T/O - Page 91

Please excuse the stupid question, but this thing is for sure going up now?

It's really hard to believe. 20' shorter than the Chrysler Building. Conrad, Ritz, 98 RR, Fairmont, Iron Works, that'll be the most expensive land per sqft in town.

I remember when I had a — for the Comerica in 2003 or so.

Whoa. Totally from out of left field.

I mean, if I'm understanding you correctly . . . . https://www.1hotels.com/

This wasn't a rhetorical question

Yes, it's going up for sure. All of the stuff happening now is related to the tower. And yeah, it's crazy to consider it's nearly as tall as the Chrysler Building. Equally amazing to think of how tall the Chrysler Building is considering how long ago it was built!

Thanks, man. I am still in shock.

I like the rendering, mostly because it's 1000', but they seriously couldn't come up with something slicker? Give it to SOM and let them run with it.

That doesn't feel too far out of left field. Based on the "vibe" of a lot of developments around Austin and how its pitched when compared to other cities it seems like the direction of luxury hotels in the city would go the route of a 1Hotel, an Edition Hotel, a Proper Hotel (done) rather than the route of opening a Waldorf Astoria or Ritz.

I've not heard anything about residences in this project, just multi-family.

With regard to 98 and 1Hotel...at last word the tower was to have ~352 condo units, ~232 hotel rooms, and ~675,000 SF of office.

Pardon my verbiage, by residences I meant for sale condos. I've only heard of this project including apartments for rent.

The Ritz thread was getting confusing with the 98 RR Hotel 1 speculation, so I moved those posts here.

There was no site work during SXSW.

The construction trailers to be used for construction offices were originally scheduled to be delivered to Block 190 yesterday. But they are apparently having trouble getting city approval for ROW closures to make that happen.

It's too big for Rainey!! Cancel the project! Cancel everything!!

N90 · #**1816** Posted **Mar 23, 2022, 1:22 AM**

Damn, so this ones been canceled?

StoOgE · #**1817** Posted **Mar 23, 2022, 3:08 AM**

No, it's still happening.

H2O · #**1818** Posted **Mar 23, 2022, 11:44 AM**

The City has a moratorium on ROW permits Downtown during the Spring and Fall festival seasons. Everybody in the industry should be well aware of this by now. They have been doing it for over a decade. Closures that are already in place are allowed to remain for safety reasons, but work has to halt within the ROW, and new closures are not allowed.

Some groups on this forum seem to be turning more NIMBY and anti-development (unless done their way) by the day.

This is how rumors get started...

"Did you hear that supertall in Austin was cancelled? I read it on the internet, so it must be true!"
