"Up until 2015, the company had a 22,000 sq. ft. store within President Plaza – located next to Yaohan Centre and Aberdeen Centre – but the space remains unoccupied.

The Lansdowne Centre location will be considerably larger than other T&T Supermarket stores.

For comparison, the Richmond Oval Village store is 38,000 sq. ft., the Marine Gateway store is 40,000 sq. ft., and the Metropolis at Metrotown store – the region’s largest – is about 60,000 sq. ft."
The North Vancouver location is 9,913 square feet

The new Burnwood Drive location is 14,465 SF

That new location for T&T next to IKEA has awful parking, it was fine for homeoutfitters since there were only ever a handful of shoppers cars there, but pretty small for a potentially busy supermarket.

Does it have an elevator? I've never been inside there, but the whole front entrance looks like a disaster trying to get up and down, worse than the Superstore in North Coquitlam with the long ramp and all the stairs. It's funny how the linked Instagram post with the render shows just a few stairs compared to reality.

Seems like there's a tiny elevator on the opposite side of the ramp. Only 138 covered parking spaces

how long would it take to install an escalator? it says it will be open by the end of this year, is 8 months enough time?

that building served as an early voting spot for us and I had to take my mom there to vote when we went the elevator wasn't working so we had to walk up the long ramp, the voter person said the elevator was broken.

Ramp and elevator similar to Real Canadian Superstore in Richmond, though ramp is outdoors and RCSS may have 2 elevators.
Strange how the plan says 138 covered parking spaces and 2 outdoor spaces, but the map shows more than 2 outdoor spaces.

I assume that side lot is McDonald's? Not sure about the 10 or so spots on the north side of the building.

yea the side would be mainly for McDonald's, there is an empty lot that is mainly just gravel which could be used as needed just to the east side and just south of McDonald's. This store is pretty bad for transit so it would mainly attract shoppers with vehicles. The shopping place with Pet Smart, Dollar Tree, etc is very hard to get to as a pedestrian. You rarely see people walking in that area.

Ah, got it.
McDonald's customers may have a tough time with parking.

For a place that has such harsh winters, the Old Town streetscape in Montreal is simply amazing. That shows that folks at City Hall are actually paying attenting & working, unlike the clowns here in Vancouver.

Shopping streets can be so much more inviting when there is attention paid to them.

Word in the market is that they were sick of the Granville Street decline, or at least that's what I was told.

Not surprised at that. Soon Daiso and Jollibee will also follow suit?

In a couple of years when it is constantly broken into, and workers attacked by the crazies, would you be surprised? Time travel back to the opening week of Fluevog, I'm sure the owners would never have foreseen their decision now, would they?

He's been there since 1973. Perhaps it's just time for a new location.

This article said he opened there in the 1980s. He was in Gastown from 1970 to around 1981 as .

Jollibee should be used to third world country conditions.. I doubt there will be an issue.

Honestly, what we see at DTES & Granville Street can be worse than the third world. By the way, Jollibee operates from many "Developing Nations": a far cry from the third world you are thinking about.
