This is a huge project, with a lot of complexity and two towers, so it makes sense this is going slow, but it's hard to be patient with. Project this transformative. I think the only project I'm more excited about is the City Centre redevelopment.
I suspect as mentioned this will speed up at the tower portion, but even then, I think this is going to take longer than most on here have expected and hoped for. This isn't Toronto, so speed isn't the game.

Once it finally started building the underground levels it's been moving at a decent pace. Not record-breaking at all, but typical for a Toronto style condo development.
This just feels frustratingly slow because they took so long in excavation with the water issues they had.
Typical timelines for a condo is about a month a podium level then about a week a floor once they are on to the tower levels. They took 5 months to build the 4 lower podium levels, which is about on that schedule, especially considering the podium levels are larger and more complex than a typical condo with the structured garage integrated into it requiring more complex form-work.
There are 2 podium levels left, then it's on to the tower levels. By early next year it should be flying.
Looking at the first picture, the old Woolworths building would be great to build on top of.
I can see that happening. I don't think I'd want to see it become the base of a tower, but perhaps something taller in the back with a couple of storeys (of complementary design!) atop the original building.
I would NOT want to see it knocked down and replaced.

Already was once, the original building burned down.
I noticed today that they are putting up the forming for the walls of the first floor of the south tower today. I might try to grab some aerial shots this weekend if the weather allows for it.

I still shudder at what the podium is going to look like. They shoulda never been allowed to design something so bland in such an important area of the city
I agree, the podium looks fine. Some nice brickwork to compliment the adjacent existing buildings. With that being said, there really has only been one render released. So we can't really comment much, good or bad.

There were a couple different designs released and we all complained when they released them - the last design they offered was sorta ellen faircloudesque - - my main issue is that both buildings on each end of this are such highly traditional - it would have been nice if maybe they had looked back to see what had originally been there before the kresgy building and maybe tried to match heritage a bit more.
Still bland imo - and I'll probably never like it. Mostly because of where it is. That and the lack of stone lintels on the small windows just makes it too much brick for me and a bit too brutalist looking. The black building in the middle I don't mind too bad in the second render as it feels like a continuation of the condo on top - it feels more uniform.
Sorry this build is just always going to bug me unless they do something amazing at the last minute. Apologies for dwelling on it haha
Pictures taken today. Looked to me like they've poured the seventh floor slab and some (?) of the seventh floor columns/walls for the west tower. East tower is one floor behind.
First, a picture looking towards what will become a prominent view of the west tower:
King William streetwall and east tower:
Hughson pictures:
I imagine this cutout is for an eventual construction elevator:
Yeah they are definitely pouring the 7th floor on the south tower, since these are repeating floors this one too should start moving fast!
