Your personal frustration doesn't amount to real solutions to any problems. Your ideas are unpopular. People each have their own opinions on how to improve the city and just because you are all unhappy doesn't mean you are on the same team. Making unrealistic demands, and pushing for counter productive policies is part of the reason why the city is the way it is.

The current system is does not allow much for variance of ideals. If you'll notice most of the council and mayor including other candidates either live in/around the same general area and have awfully similar backgrounds. That doesn't exactly bode well for coming up with new ideas. Until that system changes, the prospects for
real change remains grim.
My ideas are unpopular? What are you basing that statement on? Election results? The ones that only a fraction of citizens actually take part in? See a couple posts above. A poster states that he will not be voting for the first time in 30 years? You think he's an anomaly? Think he's alone? Guess again.
And what exactly are the "unrealistic" demands or "counter productive" policies that anyone is pushing that doesn't meet your lofty standards? Viewcone relaxation? outrageous signage rules? $0.25 for a disposable cup? The fact that I would like the city to relax overly regulated bar and restaurant industries?, be more business friendly by reducing the unfair tax burden they currently carry?, get serious with crime and actually protect the public rather than make lame, made up excuses for why you don't?, return Vancouver to a destination for the entire region rather than the current regime that caters everything to a select few who can use only certain modes of transportation, leaving everybody else (who happen to be the vast majority BTW), endless property tax increases to fund the endless pie-in-the-sky, unicorn initiatives that do absolutely nothing except keep special interests groups and those that dwell within them employed,? And that just scratches the surface.....
By all means professor, enlighten the group which so called "realistic" and "productive" policies have improved the standard of living, affordability, and prosperity of the city.
