So far, I am pleasantly surprised - these look more interesting than I anticipated. I think they'll also fit in well with Q2, and I'm gonna guess that Gensler's the architect as well.

One thing I wish I saw a bit more of: Green! Its name is "Green Square" and it's all white (except for some accents on the parking garage, it seems)? Give it some color!

They are also doing the master plan for the 305 S. Congress/South Shore project.

Cool, the actual site plan including the layout (at least the initial proposal) is now on Austin's permit site.

https://abc.austintexas.gov/attachme...%2FvYIlg%3D%3D

Links from CoA's sites seem to not work that great, so if you search on
https://abc.austintexas.gov/web/perm...c-search-other

for Verde Square, there's a site plan in review. in the attachments for that, there's an unnamed one at the end.

Edit: nevermind, I just saw that it was already linked

This seems so out of place, surrounded by drive-throughs and one-story industrial buildings. I know the future of those lots is more like this, but it seems jarring when a large project like this does not even address a major street. Somehow it is different with the Domain, which had its own internal critical mass.

If these towers actually get built they may be my favorites in the city.

I believe they're approximately alongside the new road that will eventually be cut through there (looking at the top picture, where Aguilar street would be continued across Braker). From there it will continue all the way up through Broadmoor/Uptown.

Lol, I am kinda right there with you. I LOVE the texture and lack of an ugly parking podium. Also, I am a total sucker for twin towers. Build build build!!

They also remind me of GPM towers in SA (which I absolutely loved). RIP

i think once you account for the fact the trees won't be on the roof and the building won't be literally glowing this is going to look a lot like a generic pair of 25 story office buildings

They'll have some nice fast food options at their doorsteps.

Is there anything else from the city on this possibility or is that just from the NBG master plan document?

The building directly between this site and Burnet road already has a site plan application in for a tower:

"20-Story High Rise Residential Tower located at 10711 Burnet Road. This will be a 415 Unit Multifamily Project with 5,000 sf of retail. Total conditioned square footage of roughly 720,000."

My understanding is that the city is requiring land to be dedicated for these streets when the various parcels are redeveloped. That's how we ended up with that section of Aguilar street today, it was added when those new apartments went in.

I like that these are towers independent of the major developments in the area. They're not in the Domain, they're not in Broadmoor (or Uptown or whatever) they're not necessarily even in what I would consider McKalla proper. IMO that's significant because it means the conditions are right for other parcels to go high, too. And to me THAT'S what's going to make this area Austin's second downtown: dense organic growth.
