I give high marks for its uniqueness, something I once shunned in the beginning before I talked with the person who designed it. Despite all the opposing opinions, I think it's safe to say it will have a huge impact on the skyline, and it will be hard to keep our eyes off of it. With all the tallish towers going up south of this and around Rainey, the height of this and where it is, is a game changer for that section of dt. It will look awesome when it's completed.

I was just on Far West over MoPac and this building is already commanding some respect. One can really see the bulkiness of it from their. Eventually Far West will be a great place for a great telephoto pic of this bemouth.

As far as glass curtain walls vs more human scale cladding....human scale wins me over every time, unless we are talking a cluster of mega towers, like Dubai. The upper reaches of Sixth and Guadalupe do have more human scale than the lower street levels which will give the tower some relief from a distance. However, the meeting with the Bremond Block is a big miss so far.

We're close to having our third of many 600 footers in the skyline.

I was just thinking how shortlived its height dominance is going to be. It'll be the single tallest thing on the skyline for 6 months or so, maybe a year.

Amazing to realize this has another 300ish feet to go. The building will definitely dominate the skyline, especially from a distance. It will pop up in places you don't expect.

Tower cranes for stick structures seems unusual.

You see them on the east side sometimes. I think one of the complexes by MLK Station has one up right now.

Maybe it's for something behind the stick structure.

It’s for the building pictured. Cranes for wood-frame structures is common, we just don’t have much of that type of construction here.

You're lucky. But prepare to get used to it. There have been 5-over-1s going up all over Boston for the past several years. It's cheap construction and it's the legal maximum floor limit for lax safety codes, so a lot of contractors do it. And they allllllllllllll look the same. Non-core urban areas of every city are all starting to look the same.

Anyway, direct your attention to the tall reinforced-concrete building going up in the background.

We have 5/1 stickframe going up all up and down our corridors, and most use tower cranes. A few use the lighter weight portable cranes. I can think of at least one that does not have any crane at all, but there is a tower crane on another phase of the project across the street. As I have watched the construction progress, they have mostly relied on forklifts.

Here's an odd crane being used on the low-rise project on Comal next to Plaza Saltillo, never seen one like this before.
