It also looks like they changed the groundbreaking to 1Q2022 and not 4Q2021.

It appears there is some activity with this project. Hopefully we get a new rendering soon.

There is also a Business Journal article but I don’t have access to those articles. It mentions something about permits but I am not sure.

Sounds like preconstruction activities will commence in Q1 2022. The article reiterates that the hotel portion is still cut from the project (stupid) and mentions the delays due to COVID. Nothing mentioned on height.

Here is a Chrome extension that allows non-subscribers to read Phoenix Business Journal articles. It was created a few years ago by one of our members, but not sure if they're still active here on the site. At any rate it works great for seeing the articles:

To access BZJ articles, you just need to hit the ESC key while the article is loading. Sometimes it takes a few tries to time it right, especially if the page loads to fast.

I think McKinley is right around the corner. A couple more infrastructure permits submitted this week.

Simultaneously. So there will be at least 2 tower cranes up.

Spoke to someone onsite today and another delay. GB is not going to happen until at least April or later.

Covid ----> supply chain issues + Beurocratic process is even slower and worse than before + Labor costs ------> Costs skyrocketing for projects and materials -----> Financing and insurance costs skyrocketing and delayed.

Literally all of this is a reinforcing upward inflation spiral that has a huge impact on construction, especially high profile high rise construction being built over an active Bus and light rail station.

Well April is only 2 months away at the earliest so not to bad, assuming later isn’t 2023…

Layton Construction posted the following on their LinkedIn yesterday:

Coming soon to one of the fastest-growing cities in America!

Downtown Phoenix, say hello to 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧! The redevelopment of the Central Transit Station is made up of two mixed-use skyscrapers that will include:

• 32-story mixed-use tower that will house 362 apartments, and 70,000 SF of office space.
• 21-story student housing tower that will include 435 rooms and 9,000 SF of office space.
• 45,000 SF of ground-floor retail and restaurant space.
• 200,000 SF 2-level subterranean parking garage.
• Amenities include a 4th-floor rooftop pool, games, and barbecuing.
• Entertainment venue, seating, and landscape.

This project is officially underway! Keep an eye out for updates to come.

"officially underway" not sure if that means they pulled permits or are beginning demo now??
