Stage 2 LRT Update - A Look at the Progress of the O-Train Expansion in Ottawa - December 2021

Last week, the City of Ottawa delivered an update on Stage 2 LRT progress in the city. Stage 2 is expanding the O-Train service in the East from Blair to Trim, in the West from Tunney's Pasture to Algonquin and Moodie, and in the South from Bayview to Limebank and the Airport.

In this video, I discuss and provide my take on some of the important progress being realized on these massive construction and infrastructure projects across the city.

The photos contained in this video were provided by the City of Ottawa and mostly date from November 2021.

Some highlights, work will start on the pedestrian bridge between Algonquin College's trades building and the new (but not yet built) Algonquin Station bus loop entrance. Escalators to be installed this winter at Algonquin and Lincoln Fields stations. Work will start on Kichi Sibi Station. Transitway along Scott and between Pinecrest-Bayshore will close in April.

I know it has been said before, but if we are spending the money to cover the line to re-create the Byron linear park, why can't we cover the trench along Scott St to create a Scott linear park?

I agree. Between the lack of green/outdoor rec space in the ward and the thousands of units proposed/approved and u/c along Scott, it seems like an obvious project.

Try taking the 11 to Bayshore and you'll experience that bus loop in all its glory. You get a 360˚ around the station site and the old mall not once but twice.

Great shot! Nice to see this important station really coming along. It's interesting to me that it appears like the new Line 1 station + bus loop will have a significantly smaller footprint than the old station, when you take the Transitway + local bus platforms into account.

I wish they would have kept the bus loop to the west so that we could develop east of the station.

Great shot! Looking forward to this opening. I'm also hoping to see more progress of Lincoln Fields Redevelopment. The new Metro/Rexall/Wendy's are now all open and they are tearing down the last bit of the old mall.

They had a rough draft with all these placeholder buildings & towers but I haven't heard any news on phases or timeframes... Would be nice to see a dense/vibrant node here.

I assumed buses based on the renderings, but could be a drop-off.

Unfortunately not. Train will emerge from the tunnel just before LF.
