An engineering marvel, just prepping the site took 2 and a half year... I think. This tower once complete will mark the western gateway into Brentwood. a sight to behold.

Yea...it's a feast for the eyes looking at all they have done and will do on this site. Incredible work so far. This is one unique project.

i cant believe that TransLink actually allowed them to do that. that's pretty crazy. though really almost anything can be engineered to work. i am sure there were many checks on that work.

The scale of the SkyTraincolumn foundations is highlighted by the workers nearby.
Anyone else think the columns for he corner (tallest) tower seem slim compared to Shangri-La? Could just be a scale or perspective issue.

Does anyone know anything about the subs on this job?

I live in Brentwood and have never seen anything like the production on this site.

The work starts at around 6am, and doesn't stop until around 7-8pm, 6 days a week.
Usually couple nights a week flood lights are on and crews still working at 9pm.

The sheer amount of man hours here is mind blowing, and not the usual from my experience.

Case in point - Wednesday night, concrete still being placed at 9:17pm. With clean up that's easily a 10pm if not 11pm finish.

Crews onsite making noise at about 6:15am.

Are they doing a double shift rotation?

Yeah, those are not going to be very nice units to live in, facing the opposite tower. Another downside to this project next to the high likelihood of a flooded parkade.

The too tight spacing is akin to City of Lougheed.

Claiming a risk of parkade flooding as if it were an accepted and likely scenario is just naive and dumb. Sure, if there is a major engineering mistake. Otherwise, we have a few technological solutions to water ingress in conditions like these. There are a number of local projects built/being built that solve the same condition. (City Gate and a dozen other projects on False Creek, several riverside projects in New West and Vancouver . . . ) Relatively speaking,there is nothing special about this one.

the area around Still Creek does flood fairly often when heavy rains come but I have never heard that those condos across from Home Depot have had any issues have they? It's probably not a worry.

There's a swale or marsh south of Tandem that is supposed to handle excess stormwater.
