The river and railway make it basically impossible from the South. I think a Penn mockup plan included another pedestrian bridge, but I don't remember if it's close to the health campus or the school. At this point between Penn's SW campus edge and the hospital campuses, there is no room to run any roads or paths through that don't already exist. From the North, there are actually a few more creative ways into the area if you get familiar with the service roads, walkways, and parks eg going through Kaskey Park to Guradian and E Service Drive
They are building a pedestrian bridge over Convention Ave that connects the rail way station to a new pedestrian walkway on the North side of the Pavilion that will run all the way up to 33rd or 34th street (between Pavilon/Penn Museum). Then obviously you have South/Spruce to walk along the Stadium/Museum. And then you could also walk along the street between Pavilion entrance and Smilow.
I'm going to throw my hat in for a lot that nobody has mentioned yet: Front and Spring Garden. I believe some of the sites that others have mentioned are far more likely (especially 22nd or 23rd and Walnut), but that section of Northern Liberties isn't unfamiliar to major height.
My other far out guess would be somewhere in the developing "SoNo" district between Front, 6th, Spring Garden, and Callowhill.

Aside from Walnut Street from 15th to 18th Streets almost being entirely refilled with retailers within the next few months which is super encouraging and impressive, the empty lot shows "Proposed Redevelopment" on it, which lends more credibility to the rumors of a "12-story building" being proposed for this site in the near future.
NOOOOO. Pour one out for Abner's. Really hoping they'll just move to a new location but the last 3 times I've been there there hasn't been another customer. Would not be surprised if this was the end of the line for them. Growing up, this was always where my dad would take me for cheesesteaks before/after any Philly sports event. Sad to see them go

It’s not official, just a placeholder. But the agent who bought is pretty aggressive, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear something sooner rather than later.

The lot is for sale. The rendering is just a representation of what could be built. Whoever buys the lot will come up with their own specific plan. So in short, no, it's not an official rendering.

This is one project that I hope never comes to fruition. The Victorian-era building that is currently on that corner (17th & Race) is stunning — one of the last remnants of the old neighborhood, which was similarly quite beautiful. It would be a pity to tear it down.

Agree completely. The fact that losing this building is even an option disgusts me. It's not even like the building is in bad shape! It's pristine! Preservation in this city is pathetic.
