Developer probably trying to avoid 6th street in the name since that might give folks images of West 6th or Dirty 6th party party scene

Does anyone know if 407 Colorado (the old Boathouse location) will be torn down as part of this project?

Nice. Right on schedule. Now I want to see one of those right of way closure permits for the Republic tower.

2022 is shaping up to be something special. This tower and 6X across the street from one another is going to be impressive.

When the presumed supertall at the post office block finally moves forward the 6th and Guadalupe intersection is going to be incredible.

We have three towers either side of 650' that are good to go, a supertall that appears to be happening with site work already underway and a 875' tower topping out in Q3. 2022 is definitely is a good year for height.

It looks like the demise of Maiko Sushi was misreported. They actually did move into a new downtown location. I believe the new location is where Max's Wine Dive used to be:

A an FAA filing for a 905' tower crane was filed. It's probably a luffing, but the height would still suggest a tower taller than 675'. But the tower is still "only" 675' according to the FAA filing for the tower.

This would be consistent with the conversations one of y'all had with people on the inside. If I remember correctly, someone contacted two individuals. Both indicated that they had not realized any reduction in height from the original plans. Thus, a roughly 775' tower.

Maybe that person could reconfirm the height.

From the 6XG webcam, it looks like it may have started on the alley side of the old bank building. Is that where it is?

They've taken down the drive through lanes and the roofing above it, that's about it so far. They seem to have stopped for some reason. At any rate, I'd bet that the bank will be a pile of rubble tomorrow.

As someone living on the west side of downtown I disagree .

Really though, there's about to be several hundred thousand square feet more of office space between those two corners (not too mention all new apartments and condos that keep goin up) - I really hope there are some actually affordable, causal lunch and dinner spots that end up nearby. Losing both Chinatown and Maiko is a pretty big loss in more casual Asian food downtown. Pretty much only fancier and fancier spots left. The convention center area doesn't need a casual sushi lounge.
