Awesome Montreal shot at the top of the page!..Montreal just has this nice heft to it+ it's skyline is eclectic which makes it interesting.

re:Takamatsu, Japan is it just me, or can this city pass for an older U.S city?
I dunno, Japanese cities to me don't scream Asia like Chinese cities do. Even Tokyo can pass for a huge North American city in lots of shots.
Probably because of the concrete and bland functional designs of some of their skyscrapers. We have lots of that in Canada too..See Ottawa government office buildings.
I actually take that back, older American cities have some style to their tower designs.

American cities have defined high rise areas. Takamatsu, Japan has high rises dispersed everywhere. I could easily confuse it with any number of South America cities in numerous countries.

All large Chinese cities have tens of thousands of highrises throughout their metro areas.

Where would you say the holes are? I look forward to eventually seeing the rest of the ICE district filled out, but I'm not sure where else is a good site to be redeveloped. (Other than the BMO site).

Also what is their plan for the former building by the legislature? (I wish they retained it, despite the expense it would be to refurbish it)

A bit ashamed to admit I totally thought this was Winnipeg without a second thought. Stantec should have made it obvious.

Can't deny these views are pretty similar though:

There are a lot of parallels between the two cities for sure. We have more height and a bunch more towers of late, but I'd trade a bunch of those for 25% of the exchange.

The two mid rises in parking lots to the right of the federal Building; the parking lot to the right of them; the parking lot north of that parking lot.
Post war developers across Canada cheaped out on underground or decked parking for surface parking. Land was cheap and plenty just about everywhere

^the Annex is being town down right now. The Terrace (large white boomerang one) is being updated and kept.

Orange - U/C
Green - residential proposed or approved
Blue/green - mixed use proposed or approved
Pink - key redevelopment/surface lots
Military Green - new parks u/c or about to be
