In the 2020 census Denver was just shy of 3 million people in it's MSA, and part of a larger CSA of 3.6 million.
In 2020 Austin was just shy of 2.3 million in its MSA, and is not part of a CSA.
With the way Austin is growing by 2030 our MSA will be pretty close to where theirs was in 2020 so it's not drastically larger, but it's not inconsequential.
On another note, I'm still wondering when/if the Austin CSA will be resurrected. We are one of the few large cities in the nation not part of a CSA, though ours will most likely only add a small county or two like Burnet or Blanco which won't add much to the overall population.
